Ya, the f**king barrel took two days for me, to know how to move them. Up, down.

I voted CNZ2 Rolling Barrel Bit. It took me quite a while how to figure that out. Offtopic- end of my trial membership.

I voted CNZ2's barrel. While it wasn't really hard to get past, it took forever for me to figure out how to get past it.

CNZ, Act 2, The rotating (cont) barrel.
I could never get past that bit, so in the end I just used debug in S3K to get passed it.

I'll join the Carnival Night Act 2 bandwagon.
That part alone took longer for me to get out of then the rest of the entire game.

I would have to say Big the Cat's fishing levels.
They weren't hard, persay, just fucking boring.
And lawl to the barrels. I used to overdo the up/down thing and get squished every time. XD

The part of the barrel in CNZ.
100% agree. That level design is damn awesome.
Make that Hydrocity Zone 2. That's where I always get Super Sonic, so I can easily kick the boss around with little to no effort. I get the first emerald from AIZ1, the next two from AIZ2, two from HCZ1 and get the last two in HCZ2, right before the Knuckles cutscene.
You only mentioned 6 emeralds. And actually, all of the acts in AIZ and HCZ have 2 special stages each one. So I always get the last emerald in the first HCZ2 special stage, and I use the second Super Ring to get 50 rings. So you can fail one time, an still get the 7 emeralds in HCZ.
I don't understand why people have so much trouble with it. It always was freaking easy for me. The first time that I fought him, I loose only 1 life, and then killed him. Now I can beat him without loosing any life.

Now I consider the Zone to have (minus that room) one of the best level designs in the entire series.

Well, actually, it's possible to obtain Super Sonic by the first act of Marble Gardens Zone. But I get your point.

Anyway, the most infuriating thing? Hmm... Had to Be Sonic 2 DEZ With Anyone. You still can't hit him until he falls down, and I find gliding is helpful at times. but also trouble some.

The drum. That fucking drum. I've only beaten it twice in my life, but I think I've got the hang of it. And let's not forget Metallic Madness Act 2. That was the only level in history that required me to use a guide. God, that was an annoying level, Act 1 was almost as hard, I beat that in about 7-8 minutes.
The only time I found it easy, was the first time. Where I wasn't even bothering to find the Eggmans machine, found it, got out in about 3 minutes. Every other time was a killer. XD

Which planet has maths where 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 6?

I just noticed I goofed on the emerald counts for the first acts. It should be two emeralds for AIZ1 and one for HCZ1. Fixed on the original post.

New here, so this will be my first post. Awesomeness.
Anyway, my most hated spot in a Sonic game is none of the given choices to be honest. There's a spot in Aquatic Ruin Zone where you've been underwater for a good long time, and you're just dying to get some air. No star posts for a while either if I recall. Anyway, you hit one of the long springboards (the kind that are slightly diagonal) and it shoots you up into the air... straight into a pack of Whisps. Unavoidable. It's the only way to get up from that area. If they were just hard to avoid, I'd have no problem with this, but it's the guaranteed fact that you WILL be hit that pisses me off.

I used to find the DEZ Sonic 2 Boss hard until I found out that if your at the other end of the room when his launches his arm, he can't harm you. Then I kicked his ass.

Most of the places I've been reminded of...have been mentioned.
However I will ALWAYS have a fearing hatred for Sandopolis Zone Act 2. Curse that entire creation of a zone for introducing ghosts into the Sonic universe! I always wondered what they were doing in that Animal Container anyway....(regardless of the fact that even if you avoid hitting it w/ debug, they still appear after you pass a certain point...)
I never knew Eggman was a Ghostbuster?!
But on w/ my story...I remember I had actually rented Sonic 3 and Knuckles before ever owning it (I owned just Sonic 3 up until I obtained a legal copy of S&K from the SMC, but I've played through the games numerous times thanks to emulation), stuck in that retared Sandopolis Pyramid sand slides trap watching the room getting darker and darker. I just sat there in an in-place spin dash, as the ghosts were trying to get me in the darkness...I eventually ran out of time....then I hated Sonic for an hour or so. Good times in 1994/5

I remember on Sonic 3 at Carnival Night Zone, I would always try to look for all of the giant rings, but would always get stuck in a room you couldn't escape. I managed to do that all the way until I started getting Super Sonic before Carnival Night Zone.
