"The least involved plot" ? You haven't paid attention to the details or what ?

Spoiler

What you described is attention to detail. (in my opinion, no trying to start shit)

But in the end, Sonic Heroes' plot is still
"Eggman went over there, let's go after him" for Sonic
"Sonic went over there, let's go after him" for Amy
"Eggman went over there, let's go after him also I can't remember stuff" for Shadow
"Do the thing" for team Chaotix
With little to no variation. Everything else is explained in the very last cutscene before the final boss, which is far from my favorite method of storytelling (hence why I consider this to be the least involved plot of all 3D Sonic games, thought Colours is pretty lackluster as well in that regard)

And... what's the problem with a story being told with details ?

You don't have to have everything explained in cutscenes. Sometimes you just need to pay attention to what the characters are saying while playing, and looking at what happens in the levels.

Okay but you can't deny that Adventure 1/2, Shadow, 06, and Unleashed plots where more involved...right ?
I'm not saying that Heroes's plot is bad, just that it's very withdrawn.

Yeah, you should've been in charge of Heroes' storytelling, Adamis. Reading your summary of it makes it sound soooooooo much better than it was. But you're right, all that stuff does happen in the game, it's just conveyed so weakly I honestly didn't even remember any of that shit happening from playing it as a kid. Only thing I remember is slipping all over the place, looking at all those Eggman's robots, and being extremely nonplussed about the drop in quality overall from SA2, especially in the story department. Even as a kid I picked up on the fact that SEGA dropped the ball HARD from the previous title, and being a kid at the time I was really invested in it and was so disappointed.

And it's too bad. As it's been shown, Heroes had a lot of squandered potential overall. Imagine how undeniably solid (not GREAT, but solid) it would've been if it were running on the Adventure/Billy Hatcher engine and had cutscenes done to Adventure standards. Team-based, improved SA2 gameplay with classic level tropes? Fuck yes. Quotable, cheesy-ass SA2 style cutscenes with "stakes" and Metal Sonic scenery-chewing like a madcunt? A reason for the game to use What I'm Made Of as it's theme instead of SAWNIC HEEEROOOOOEES? Sign me the hell up. God Heroes really could have been something.

With Heroes, I got the impression that started of with a detailed story (like Adventure 1 & 2). But then they wanted the game to resemble the classics (like Sonic 1 & 2) and so came up with a bizarre compromise, where the story has lots of details that the game just rushes through leaving the final experience feeling unsatisfying and rather muddled.

They are selling three different Sonic Heroes script books in the same listing if that's what you're asking. One book is story content, the other two are hint content, which is basically everything heard in-game.
