Definitely interested in buying this. I somehow don't see an EU release happening but I could live with a US one.

You Europeans are more likely to get it, given the popularity of the Mega Drive there. Plus there's Sega Europe's support, and the Summer of Sonic events taking place there too.

If this isn't released in the USA, how would one go about getting a copy? Would SEGA ship internationally to the US? How does importing soundtracks generally work?

I'm definitely going to pick up a copy, and am willing to pay good $$ for it. I'm hoping this isn't one of those situations where 500 copies of something is released in Japan only and becomes impossible to find (even through "alternative means") in the US.

Um, you import from a site like Amazon or Playasia.

Be aware of bootlegs they're a big problem when importing from Asian countries. If the record label is Ever Anime, Miya Records, or K-O Records... Then it's a bootleg.

Good/Bad Seller List

You can check the Catalog number in VGMDB to see if you got the real deal or ripped off.

I know I'm not the one who asked, but thank you for posting this link. Heck, if I had this a few months back I could have easily avoided winding up with a Planetary Pieces bootleg, animecast is right on that list.

This will be really helpful. smile.png

Maybe for the 50th anniversary they'll sell the unreleased Michael Jackson tracks from Sonic 3.

Nakamura posted two blog posts today and yesterday:

https://yorimo.yomiuri.co.jp/servlet/Satell...name=YrmWrapper

I think in the first link he mentions what hardware he used when composing Sonic 1 - MC500 sequencer with some computer from ATARI. There's probably some other stuff as well but it's all in Japanese. He also talks about the process of composing the demos and sending them to Sonic Team in the first link as well.

Autotranslation never fails to amuse:

Then we can sneak quietly to the music of Sonic theme DWL less was known at the time, "the theme of the DWL must have to live within everyone's head doing a Sonic. Selling baboon "and had been alone and grin.
What I deduce from this is that Sega reflected smugly upon their successful employment of musical mind-control to render us into compliant consumer-apes. specialed.png

Demo tapes plz!

I just wish Sega would release even unused music that were supposed to be in Sonic 1 and 2. Not just go the safe way and release the ones that the less important Sonic fans remember.

What makes you say there are unused tracks? Besides, it's not like the "less important fans" (lol) are going to be interested in the demos.

Technically unused, but technically in the game. I assume we were all smart enough to figure that out as soon as the game came out (I didn't know till 1995 when a friend and I were bored and we decided to go through every song in the sound test and me made up stories for each song. HPZ was known as the "Land of Shields"....it didn't take long after that to realize that I had never heard it in an actual level).

I want to hear the sonic 1 tunes directly from whatever keyboards they composed on before being turned into megadrive bit music, if might not be too different but that is what I hope for, unused music or not.
