These folks have received the first award of Sonic Retro's new achievements program. The Hacking Utility Programmer achievement is for anyone who releases a Sonic hacking utility to the public.

does my SMPS/Voice editor count? *Runs*

anyways, I think this is a pretty nifty idea, at least people who aren't working on a hack can at least achive an award title of some kind =)

A list and how to achieve each would be great, gives us something to aim for.

An idea: make each icon a link to whatever is the reason for it whenever possible. That way people will be able to see what gave them that achievement (and makes it easier for me to get extra hacks :P).

What if you make more than one utility?

That's not doable really though, as I think they're trying to make it so it's simple enough to parse the boxes serverside =P

Also, woo, I have one.

Maybe a (2) could be added to mark that? I dunno, isn't a single notice okay?

Link to a list then colbert.png

Well, I guess that putting the list in the wiki page would be easier.

Hold up, I knew that icon looked familiar - It's the System Preferences Icon in OSX Leopard :P
May I suggest something a bit more original?
Excellent idea nonetheless, but I can see it going the way of the emeralds that we used to have for post count =/ Sorry to put a downer on it.

...but that would be good, right?

I mean, more people wanting the "Achievements" so more people donating maybe? :P

It's a modified version from the iPhone background, but yes. I wanted something shiny and there it was, ready to be slapped with a border.

As far as the old post emeralds/other past achievements thing goes, you need to realize that:

- I will not be rewarding people for quantity, and certainly not for post count
- I will not tolerate people whining for achievements (I'll just make sure you never get any)
- I'm rewarding concrete things that can be pointed to

Any chance of a list of all achievements? I'm curious as to what all the icons look like. :U

EDIT: DAGarden pointed this out; achievements are only visible on the Rusted Copper theme right now. He couldn't find any. :x

Yeah, I was wondering about that, sitting here going "what the fuck are they all talking about?"

Welp, I'm never getting one. But hey, you never know. Maybe my scanning of the English master system manual is worthy.

I hope you don't take this as me whining for an achievement.

Fair enough, and I suppose it does encourage donation, which had completely slipped my mind. Nevertheless I think the community's a whole lot more mature in general from before, and the amount of whining will probably be a lot less than I initially thought.
Thanks for clearing that up, it seems like a much more beneficial reward system, being based on things that actually help the community on a whole

If there's one for a massive influx of useful wiki updates, I think MainMemory should get it. I looked at the wiki history for everything sadx related and he's been a busy bee. Alot more than I have, that's for sure =P
