I've posted page by page videos of two different Sonic the Hedgehog Style Guides onto youtube. Both were released by Sega for in-house use around 1997/8. These particular manuals were used by Sega Europes marketing.

We could definitely use these for the wiki. Can you scan them?

Those books should be scanned and wikified. How much are you asking for them?

Hi Skyler, it took me ages to photograph them and now you want scans, crikey! Well I'll see if I have a spare 3 hours on hand!

Ashthedragon, you are welcome to bid on one of the manuals which I've put up on ebay... Sonic the Hedgehog Official Stylebook and Character Manual

A scan shouldn't take too long? I scan stuff all the time here at my work, takes maybe a minute...

It might take some time if you have to scan all pages on both books!

I can understand that... but if the videos were any indication, the books didn't seem THAT long.
I dunno maybe it's a matter of perspective. I scan school textbooks and worksheets for my lessons every day so it would have no effect on me... my apologies if I am underestimating the time it would take for said task... especially if they have to meet certain archival quality standards... which I admit, the shit I scan for work only needs to meet my standards of "Who gives a fuck?"

Are you selling the second one too? I'm interested in buying them.

Oh, God. I'm dying to see/buy that somehow. It's so important, as I intend to write a book about Sonic and all, and the focus is on what made Sonic distinctive.

Apparently, the CD contains the HD artworks, as said on some pages.

Dear all, thanks for all the interest. Wiki what? All sounds a bit litigious and getting me somewhat worried that I might have the Sega Yakuza on my doorstep, especially since being an ex employee I'm afraid I could end up an ex member of the human race! That is how I came by these books and all the other Sega paraphernalia that I've been hoarding for the last 10 years. Basically stuff that I was given or was being chucked out by SoE marketing at the end of the Dreamcast project. I've said enough on the source subject.....

As noted by others the CD's contain more high quality artwork.

Considering there has been so much interest by Sonic Retro members (this really is a mega global forum! I'm very impressed) I'm sure that one of you will end up being the lucky ebay winner and therefore leave scanning and copyright infringement down to you and not me

Sugar, if just a couple of pictures was copyright infringement, half of Retro would be in Guantanamo Bay. I'm sure you'd be fine.

I'm more impressed something survived the SOE office move. ;)

Don't worry too much about Legal—they've made it pretty clear what's cool and what's not, and I assure you they really do not care about something like this. It's really only of interest to folks like us, anyway.
