I figure it's Sonic at the end of S3K or maybe 3D Blast. Nothing to bother looking into.

Has the release date come forward? Amazon have just emailed me to say that it's coming out on the 4th of November...

Amazon.de is still in stock:

When you get to the end of checkout, it drops down to 84.99. Or at least it did before. US it's about 135 shipped.

Does that play in English?

I believe all signs point to you being able to set the text and voices to whichever language you prefer.

Ah, that's good.. But if any documents come with the collectors edition it will probably be in German if I get the German edition.

Of course Classic Sonic hasn' met Amy yet. I would be surprised if he's already met Tails. Isn't he Classic Sonic (1991)?

The trailer with both Tails proves otherwise.

He could have met him along the way.

Or since SEGA retconned Sonic CD to take place after Sonic 4, it's likely Sonic from around Sonic 2 or 3.

No retconning has taken place. That whole Sonic CD fiasco was from misinterpretation of what Ken Balough said. Sonic CD is where it's always been, a vague sense of sometime around Sonic 2, thanks to the whole being released after it even though developers intended to have it done before Sonic 2's release.

I thought it was clarified that Sonic 4 only solidified that Sonic CD was indeed canon but did not change where it would fit in the canon.

I'm betting that it could be that Sonic met Tails before the events of CD and Sonic2. Sonic 2 could've just been the first time Sonic let him tag along. Of course this is just a baseless theory, but it makes sense to me.

y'know, it could be post-3K Sonic who happened to be running around GHZ again.
But seriously, Sega doesn't care and neither should you.

Know what would have been really cool?

If Sonic 4 was the sequel to Sonic 3. Imagine that.

My first thought of those Emerald Coast screens was "...What? Did they straighten out the same path from Adventure and paste it into Classic's Act?" Y'know, same terrain, same order, just restricted to 2D-only planes.

There is no debate. Classic Sonic seems to be from Sonic 1, given that he starts right at Green Hill Zone and apparently (this will probably change when someone else from SEGA pipes up) has not yet met Amy. There has been no retcon of Sonic CD.

Also, the figures in conjunction with Generations (which we have relied on heavily in some places for information before proper screenies and level details, for which they have proved of help I might add) refer to him as Sonic The Hedgehog (1991).

Talking of Sonic 4, it would have been so interesting if they'd have placed an upcoming level from Episode II in there, get us all mystified and link it in properly to the franchise's history.

Does it matter about continuity? I ordered Sonic CD off of eBay, got it yesterday. Looked at the manual and it turns out it had four pages worth of dialogue and storyline to go with the game including conversations between Amy and Sonic.

Who cares when who met who.

There is really no point in upsetting one and other over an issue that may well be dealt with in Generations, it could be part of the plot.

I don't think they actually were that specific from what point in time classic Sonic is from. It's just classic Sonic, and that's it. (and if they were actually that specific, then Super Sonic would have green eyes like he did in S3&K, and he doesn't in Generations)

I played sonic generations (green hill and city escape) and there is still noticeable input lag on the PS3 version :(

They aren't gonna fix it are they :/
