If that demo hits Wednesday, it'll be a nice benchmark to compare my PC to. I'm probably getting my hopes up, but I would certainly love a PC demo as well to compare the two versions prior to launch.

I'm thoroughly impressed on how much less often you can boost in the modern levels. That is a phenomenal improvement from its predecessors. It let's actually do some high-speed platforming instead of just twitch gameplay.

Wow, I'm thoroughly impressed with all the level design here, Modern Sky Sanctuary especially.
Then again, I also feel like you didn't have to boost mad in Colors either.

So you guys going to hack this possible new demo too? or do you think it'll be the same demo from months ago only with unlocked modern sonic?

I doubt it. That version is ancient history at this point. It may be GHZ but it's probably the more refined Modern Sonic version if anything.
Or they'll be awesome and have a totally different level. Oh and of course I expect said demo to be ripped apart so we can discover everything.

Some more Comic Con updates:
They pulled the Emerald Coast and Radical Highway and Metal Sonic demo of the 3DS version for some reason, but Thursday night I was able to play Radical Highway modern and it was AWFUL. Nothing but a terrible boost fest. Same with Green Hill Zone and Mushroom Hill Zone. Metal Sonic's boss fight was just as bad because it was a horrible race at Casino Night Zone and there was just NOTHING to it. The Big Arm boss battle was also non-sensical because you can get more than half of your hits in right at the start of the fight.
The only redeeming quality of the 3DS version is the Classic levels (which are the same as the originals) and the music. I hope it's not only delayed, but canceled and ultimately forgotten. OR SEGA fucking shapes up and ditches the boost fest Modern gameplay. It's not an obstacle course like the console version, it's literally just boost to win.

Kail: That's.... Sad. I was looking forward to playing the 3DS version. I guess I really DON'T want it? :/
Oh well. If SEGA makes the 3DS version better I'll hopefully get it. If they don't... Eh. Dimps didn't care enough :/ (or they did but they just suck?)

Dimps might have overstayed their welcome. Unleashed and Colours DS were okay but Sonic 4 and Generations are far from being acceptable.

The real thing that irritates me about Dimps is that they haven't legitimately contributed any new ideas or concepts to Sonic except for rail grinding, press buttons to combo and boosting. All of which Sonic Team has managed, over several years, to incorporate and refine in the main series of games until now where stages like Modern Sky Sanctuary really showed me just how versatile modern Sonic can be when the level designers don't have their heads up their ass and aren't being pathetically lazy. I say that Sega should let Dimps go and either design the hand-held ports themselves or find a different and (hopefully) better developer to help them in the future, Colours DS was incredibly dissapointing and I had no doubt Generations 3DS would be no different...

Perhaps if 3DS Generations fails Sega will finally can Dimps. They're holding them back and its only a matter of time before their track record catches up to them. When it comes to Sonic games, they're bad and they should feel bad.

Never cared for Sonic Advance, Sonic 4 didn't feel right (it was sort of fun but not very old-school Sonic-y outside of the blatant reuse of old stuff with few new ideas), I can concur that Dimps just needs to go away at this point.

Whenever I realize I can now air dash and air boost with different buttons, I display a nice smile and raise my head and run. But seriously, it freakin' rules that if I need to shoot forward just enough to land on a platform, I can do it without firing off like a rocket into a pit.
Also, WTF, after finishing Sonic Adventure XBLA, I have a GS of 13999. I think I'm gonna let the 'Box rest a little while and break the 14k cherry with Generations. Which won't be too difficult since I bet most of us could get 3 or 4 of the Achievements in our first run through Classic Green Hill - Beat GHZ1, Get an S-Rank, Don't lose any rings, and if not much has been changed since the June demo, finish GHZ1 in under a minute.

The fuck was so wrong with the DS version of Colors? Easily the best handheld Sonic since the very first. By which I mean the one by Ancient.
Having seen that video, I...am mixed about Modern Sky Sanctuary. I was hoping for something where the collapsing platforms were more pervasive (they pointed it out and I was like "that's it?"). As it stands, it shares a few minor similarities with, say, Matter Splatter Galaxy (indeed, visually, that's the vibe I'm getting here) but nowhere near as many as I might actually like.
Seaside Hill as Classic Sonic looks very fun, and I won't deny the modern take on it is quite pretty.
