So! To continue my tradition of releasing something on my birthday, I present you a hack!

In case you wont like to be spoiled, have a complimentary download link!

Right, then. You want all the good bits to be spoiled, correct?
    http://www.youtube.c...h?v=mtUtKiw_rSo

This hack started as a small joke hack, just to see if I could add something we all love to classic Sonic games; micro-transactions. This was more or less a success, although not as I imagined it. Nevertheless, I found myself just adding more and more random bits for substance, and eventually even found myself playing around with something completely foreign to me on the side. This led me to have an idea for a bossfight, and as such GHZ2 boss was born! And by that, I got an idea; What if I make full hack with new boss fights! And since then I've been pretty much adding anything to my mind comes up with, as well ass lots of bosses.

But, what is this hack? Well, I don't know to be honest. It was at one point a joke, then a real hack... And then a joke again? I lost track by now. What I do know, is that none of this makes sense, especially the secrets features in this hack. I would especially like to help following people for their major contributions to making this hack be as good (or bad :V) as it is:
Vladikcomper: Sound Driver, Mega PCM, lots of cool music, and help with sound driver issues.
djohe: Bug testing, Quality assurance, and help with solving some issues.
Ducks: Bug testing, Quality assurance, and lots of neat ideas.
Jorge: A lot of help with hardware information and Natsumi screen help.

    Other people who helped:
Betatesting: Vladikcomper, Sonicvaan, TheStoneBanana, MarkeyJester, Animemaster, DA. Garden, Abyssal Leopard, LuigiXHero, Ralakimus, Bakayote
Music: Vladikcomper, DalekSam, S_T_D, Electroball, Natsumi
WARNING: potential hardware compatability issues; tests are inconclusive.

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
This is quite wittily done and I'm quite enjoying this. Those new "sub"-bosses are awesome.

The bosses in this are fantastic for their uniqueness! I wish more hacks put emphasis in the uniqueness catagory when it came to... well hell, not even just bosses... Anyways, rambling. The shop thing is pretty neat too, though I didn't end up buying anything in the end...

+ - The tails thing after completion was just dicks though >=(

Just finished doing a full playthrough of this. those boss edits man are just something else, especially the last one though I won't go into details as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but lets just say that for me, the shit was hard. aside from that, everything else was pretty fun to play. best of luck to you when the contest week starts. also happy belated Birthday.

Happy birthday! I'm streaming this game right now at twitch.tv/geekcritique. I'll update this post when it's over.

EDIT: That's done, here's the archive link: http://www.twitch.tv/geekcritique/v/20753359

This randomly happened after Marble Zone Act 2. It went to option select as it does, and before I had the chance to press anything, this happened. Random text just appeared, and it's frozen. Music has stopped too.

    Quick Pro/Con list: (in spoiler)

    Pro
    • I like the new Title card on the left hand side. It's nice and simple. And that the music resumes in, rather than restarts.
    • I love the points system. That's a nice touch. Normally, with Stock S1 levels, I get bored pretty quick, but this will want to keep me playing to earn points.
    • Even though it's a small touch and pointless, I like that the wall closes when you drop into the bit where the fire chases you in MZ2.
    • I love MZ2 boss. Nice and simple again, not too hard, but unique. Brilliant. This is as far as I got (because of the crash)

    Cons
[*]I can't seem to connect to PayPal *shot*
[*]I accidentally tapped "New game" at one point. No "are you sure?", just erases and starts again immediately. I had to do the whole of GHZ again and lost all my points and things I bought.
[*]I swear the attraction rings work differently to S3K. Maybe it's meant to, but in GHZ2 and 3, by the time I got to the end, I had loads and loads of rings flying all over the screen, bringing a lot of slowdown. Maybe I'm just too fast =P
[*]No change in GHZ3 boss. Why this may not be a bad thing, it's too easy compared to the new boss in GHZ2.
[*]GHZ2 boss, when he drops the ball, GHZ chequers can appear at the top of the screen.[/list]

Conclusion? I love all the simple changes. Simple changes sometimes makes a lot of differences. But due to the crash, I will have to leave it there. Not until the contest officially starts.

Thank you! I was sleeping at the time, unfortunately, but I watched it back after. Shame you didn't realize how to get more points =P

That is worrying, What emulator was used and what did you do exactly? I know I tested the menu over and over, and didn't expect it to have any major glitches. Also if you have SRAM enabled, you should be able to continue from MZ2 easily.

They actually work just like in Sonic 3, I ported their code over from it afterall. you are just too fast, is all.

Green Snake, I don't know if you heard me say this on the stream, but I am REALLY impressed with how far you've come. I remember playing "Sonic Green Snake" in the 2013 Hacking Contest, and you've really learned a TON over the past two years. I had a blast playing MT, and I'm looking forward to seeing you continue to make kick-ass hacks. :)

(Also, if someone will clue me in on how to get more points, that'd be awesome. :P)

I think that what gives you more points is a flawless victory, because the only level that I got without getting hurt, I've got a lot of them. Sadly for me, I am a little too kamikaze and get hit a lot :p

Went through Star Light Zone without any 'ya can't play it' trouble (Kega 3.64); the new bosses are great. Can't wait to finish it. Also, it's very nice to see a 3 orange pallete for Tails instead of 2 oranges and brown.

Regen. I finished MZ2, and it took me here. Then Marble music started playing, then 2 seconds into it playing, this suddenly happened. I didn't press anything (it was still highlighted on "Continue Game"). That's all I know, I have zero idea what caused it. Maybe it was an emulator glitch, but Regen is pretty decent and one of the closest to hardware. If I find time tonight, I'll put this on my flash cart and play it for real.

    EDIT: Rather than double posting...

Finally got round to playing this, decent hack, great idea, marred by crappy unfair sub-bosses.

Forgot the bug report, get Invincibility, get drowning music (new music mode), invincible runs out, get bubble, invincible music 'til stage end.

Okay, I just saw the fanfic in selbi's post. I feel the need of deleting the rom and burn the hard drive, does anyone else? Although I don't really have to burn down the HDD because it already is half-dead, so...

If by "burn" you mean immortalizing it on a CD, I'd fully understand you. :v:
