Well, Sega is notorious for poproducing half-assed/awful ports of Sonic games... ...so I guess Sonic 4: Episode 1 is no exception to this rule. :v:
Works fine on my X. Surprisingly smooth. I'm not having any of the issues anyone else seems to be having, aside from "This controls kind of like shit!".
Hmmm...so maybe there is hope. Now, when I try to open it, it starts downloading those extra 13 files, and when it finishes it goes to a blank white screen and just freezes. I've waited on this thing for at least 30-45 minutes. If I go back to my home screen and try to reopen it, it makes me sit through the downloads again, and goes to the same blank screen.
I caved in and bought the Steam version along with SCD. It's a vast improvement over the iPhone version. I used joy2key to play with my USB Saturn pad and I found it decent, I was even enjoying some if it, until I got to Lost Labyrinth where some of the more bullshit level design starts to happen. It's still a bad port of a bad game, I was pissed off that I had to download a thirdparty app just to use a controller that wasn't for the Xbox 360. Edit because phone auto corrected bullshit for jumpsuit.
I posted before about the effects of Anti-Aliasing in Sonic 4 Episode 1, this time I tried with the iPad version Sonic texture, so here's a comparison picture. Left pictures have no anti-aliasing, right pictures have 8x anti-aliasing: ;-; Only have 2 more posts here in the Sonic Retro forums...
You've just realised? =P I don't get why the PC/360 versions have some so brightly lit. His skin is almost white on there, as opposed to looking normal on everything else.
I have a question, the enemies, objects and super sonic textures are also better in the iPad version, right? Would be nice if someone who has the iPad version could upload those textures, to see how they would be in the PC version (that is, if it's only a matter of copy pasting). :P I would try this myself, but I don't have an iPad.
Except the fact that Sonic Classics Collection wasn't that bad, even on a DSLite it never reached the level of Sonic Genesis terrible, the games were completely playable if you only picked Sonic or Tails and not Sonic & Tails.
Well, it is, but Sonic Genesis is quarter assed, if you know what I mean XD I also hope they fix the PC version lightning
It won't happen. The PC lighting is the same as the 360 one, which is for some reason much better on PS3.
Uuuugh I finally got the 'Untouchable' trophy I never have to play this crap again. Took fat too many attempts every so often over the last year or so.
So yeah. Sonic 4: Episode 1 - Metal edition. Figure its a good reason to bring this topic into play again and leave the E2 topic for E2 stuff. It looks like it has updated physics and what not. also a different story instead of just being a sonic reskin. Whos getting it? I wonder if this episode metal will make episode 1 PC version more hackable?...
On the hacking thing, possibly. They're replacing a character and doing some level editing themselves by the sounds of it, which is more than the community's done with the game as far as I'm aware. I'm just more interested in the physics potentially being fixed with the lock-on technology. It may actually make Episode I a bearable game.
As I bought Episode I, and will be buying Episode II, doesn't that mean I get Episode Metal for free? If so, then I'm getting it. I wonder, will Episode II/Metal also patch up the physics of Episode I? Kinda sounds like Episode II and Metal might be installed as a kind-of addon.
