Nobody has ever explined the glowing red ball on Sonic 3's angel island. You find it on your list of items using debug. When you place it, the color of your status and the rings turn pink.
It's not at Sonic-Cult. I checked.

Sometimes it also produces the rightful effect, which is this 3D spheroid looking thing.

Manipulatable by the second player controller, this strange thing serves no known purpose and only really succeeds ultimately in slowing down the game and screwing up the tiles and the level palette.
I personally assume it was nothing but a major load test on the new engine updates being used in Sonic 3.

I could've sworn I saw it on Sonic Cult, but somehow I couldn't find it again. Still, this is pretty damn cool.

Reminds me of the red spheres from the special stages.

Maybe that was the older version of the spheres. Could be from the Beta

Yeah, knowing that you can find Sonic on a snowboard, it could possibly be the BETA...

Sonic on the Snowboard was never cut from the final. The earlier version of the opening of angel island (sonic on a surfboard) was cut.

*cough* what I meant to say was... The animation could have been from the BETA Special Stages.

No, Exoggedden. This topic is about any strange occurance in a Sonic game.
PC2, why would special stage sprites be in the main level, instead of the special stage?

They did have it at the CulT before they revamped the Sonic 3 section...
