I remember reading a while ago about some PAL Game Cube games like Sonic Heroes running faster (not more fluid) in 60Hz mode than in 50, due to some sloppy programming on Sonic Team's part (not sure if they just sped up the same stuff that was shown at 50Hz, or something).

As far as I remember, it meant that some voices started playing earlier than they should, the timers run faster than normal, and there were times where the button presses didn't register.

Does anybody remember which of these featured that terrible bug? It will be quite useful when getting the "best" 60Hz versions of these games (latest builds with more languages, etc).

I think Sonic Adventure DX didn't have it, while Billy Hatcher was another one of them.

I remember having problems with PAL SA2:B...the jump button registered a press so quickly that Sonic would always do a homing attack right from the ground...making the game pretty much unplayable.

I bet those games just run six logic frames every five real frames. Hence the mistiming.

Never really had any problems with the PAL Sonic Team games such as SA2B, SADX and ShTH. They're the only ones I own that output 60hz anyway, PSO: Ep1 & 2 outputs 50Hz luckly.

Can somebody please try timing the in-game seconds to see if they differ in 60 and 50Hz modes? Just out of curiosity.

both Sonic Adventures are skipping frames in 50Hz, so things are rather choppy.... the game is frame not time based it seems.... so if there's slowdown, framerate is halved not dropping as in any regular FPS...
60Hz is only way to play those games.

And game time is based off the RTC present in the system, so its does not differ between 60 and 50Hz.

Thanks for checking, after reading some old topic I was under the impression that the 60Hz mode was the faulty one, but I guess there's nothing wrong with it after all.
