PSP V2.00 is now downgradeable!
PSP Hacks Topic
I havn't got a PSP myself to verify, but everyone else on that messageboard seems to agree - it does work.
So how does this help Sonic Hacking? Personally I've never had an intrest in Sonic hacks, but now theres finally a solid reason. PSP Megadrive Emulation.
Now we can play sonic on the go, it is now more important then ever that everyone tries their best to create cool new hacks. The more classic Sonic on PSP the better. Im even going to try a stab at it using all the Sonic Editing tools I've collected (but never used) to have more original Sonic in the community! Of course, the PSP downgrade is an achivement by itself, but Sonic Hacking just got bigger!

If only Sony thought that way... the emulation scene and Sony could be best buddies if Sony would back off and let it happen. It's concerned with piracy, which would be understandable if there was a single piece of software for the PSP even worth downloading illegally. But since all there is is garbage, and the future isn't looking too great, either, I don't understand it.

That almost makes the PSP worth buying.

I think I'll still make my next handheld a NDS or a GP2X. The NDS has good commerical and GP2X is being made by a company that is pro homebrew and emulation. Although I already have my GP32 for playing classic sonic on the go.

For reference, the DS is selling three times as many units as the PSP in Japan. :P

Project:Sonic 1 Rehash - I'm not saying its canned, I'm planning on some work on it this summer.
Edit:ignor the orignal post
On PSP Genesis Sonic Long Version the latest version released to public freezes at GCZ just like on PGEN for the PS2. Loads title card and screen turns blue. I just wanted to give a heads up tip.

That doesn't suprise me, although, I must admit, the DS is lacking in good software as well, but at least it looks like some good titles are coming out, like Mario Kart DS, Metroid:Hunters, etc. They've been a long time coming though.

That has to be a bug in PGen. Bluescreens don't happen in the ROM by its own code - there's no routine to write blue to the CRAM. (Unless I'm missing something which I doubt.) Although I've seen bluescreens before.

I've compiled a few C++ scripts that run on the PSP. But I've been having trouble setting up Dev-C++ with the PSPSDK. cygwin is just.... bleh.

I think you misunderstood me. The DS is selling three times MORE units than the PSP.

Not when it can't compile for the target platform. There are two problems that occur with standard makefiles.
I'm considering trying Microsoft's, there's a way to set that up too.
