UPDATE: I found the manual, and have taken pictures. They are in the eighth (#8) post.

I've loved Sonic Heroes since I was a kid. Sure it's not the BEST game out there, but it was a large part of my childhood. I had the PS2 version. One thing I found strange about it was the instruction manual. Only years later did I find out it was misprinted. Here are a few of the strange things in this manual:

The formatting is way off. There are multiple team descriptions on one page. Everything seems to be bunched together.

The images have errors. There's this weird image where Sonic has some, like, silver stuff on his head, almost like Silver's head quills. Knuckles' eyes look really weird, and Tails looks like he's worried (almost like he knows).

For some reason, in the character bios, it says Sonic is 8 years old??? I mean, I know there's some confusion on how old he is, but not THAT much! (I'm kidding, of course. It says Tails is 8 as well, so I'm guessing it's just a formatting issue).

Those are the errors I can think of off the top of my head. I don't have the manual on me at the moment, on account of the fact that I'm terrible at organizing. I'm really interested in how this came to be. It's not often I see a manual with this many errors, let alone any. Have any of you come across this manual yourselves? Let me know if you have, and list below any other errors you've found, and how you may think this came to be.

I remember when The manual stated amy's age to be 12 lol. I was like she's after some dude who like 15 years older than her lol.,

Slice of life visual novel, coming soon...?
Maybe you could try to find it and scan it ? No offense, but the descriptions you gave where pretty vague.

Yes, I agree. I had two copies of Sonic Heroes on PS2 and both came with a perfectly fine manual. I'm not saying it's a falsehood or anything, I'd just love to see what the misprinted version looks like for research's sake. My free comic book day Archie copy (feat. the Eggdome) was printed upside-down, amusingly.

This sounds like a case of misremembering, an erroneous print job, a poorly made bootleg or a mixture of all three. I'd like to see some scans or photographs of this manual.

I'll be sure to look for it. I don't have a scanner myself, but once I find the manual, I'll definitely take pictures. I realize scans would be much better, but I don't really have the resources to obtain any.

So, I found the manual. I'm not currently able to scan it, but I have taken photographs of each page. I will scan it when I get the chance, though. But first, let's take a look (ALSO, the images are very large, and I don't know how to resize them, so zoom out as necessary):

I realize the picture quality is not the best, but my potato Android camera is the only option I have right now.

For those who don't have an original manual, here is a link to a scan for the sake of comparison. As for specific differences, here's what I could find:
1.) The Contents page only has the Sonic Heroes logo, instead of the picture of Team Sonic with the logo. The credits are also on this page, instead of their own page in the back.
2.) The Setting Up page shows a PS2 Slim instead of a PS2 Fat. It also has a different heading font.
3.) The Controller page has its sections out of order. Is also missing the graphic of Team Sonic.
4.) Rather than each team getting two pages each, the team/character descriptions are squished down, and relegated to only three pages total.
5.) Sonic's description lists him as being 8 years old instead of 15.
6.) The Basic Controls page is now shared with the Enemies page, and is missing the graphic of the Dualshock 2.
7.) The Special Actions pages are squished down to three pages instead of five.
8.) The Starting the Game section now starts at the end of the Special Actions page, and is missing the graphic of Team Dark.
9.) The Starting the Game section is very squished.
10.) The Tutorial page is missing the graphic of Team Chaotix.
11.) The 2P Play Mode, Extras, and Options section now all share a page, and the Extras section is missing the Team rose graphic.
12.) There are no Notes pages.
13.) The whole thing is only 16 pages. Only half of the intended 32.

It's very strange how poorly formatted this manual is. It feels like an original, as far as the paper goes. It has all the information of the original, yet it looks so different. The copy of Sonic Heroes it came with I got used at GameStop. The game itself runs just fine (well, as fine as the PS2 version can run), and the box art is perfectly normal. The manual is really the only thing wrong. I'm not sure whether this is a bootleg, a botched printing job, or whatever, but I'm extremely curious of how this came to be.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
This manual is from the Greatest Hits version. Presumably they condensed it to save money, and added a few goofs (8 years old) in the process.

You have the Greatest Hits manual. It was probably remade to use less paper/ink as a cost saving measure and they did a bad job.

Edit: Beaten by less than a minute, dangit Covarr!

Ohh, I see. I hadn't realized that was the case. I suppose it would make sense if they were just trying to save on ink and paper. I'm glad I was able to find, at least some sort of, an answer to a question that's bugged me for years.
