Hi folks, getting rid of some of my old Sonic memorabilia. I'm selling my personal copies of the Sonic OVA 2-tape retail set. You can find the eBay auction here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290641898219 Will ship in time for Xmas. Bidding starts at $50.
I have two copies of it in English on VHS if anyone's looking for it. :x And one on DVD, but that's not leaving my collection.
SSNTails, any chance we can convince you to possibly do hi-res 600dpi scans of the covers before you sell these?
Thanks for the scans. I added them to the wiki: http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_%28anime%29#VHS
I never understood why some editions of this spanned 2 VHS tapes. I have the dubbed US version and it sits comfortably on a single one.
That's just how the Japanese OVA market worked. You'd pay a huge price for a tape with a single episode on it, basically because you had to in order to see it at all. The episodes were released directly onto home video as soon as they were finished. Same with any 80s or 90s OVA series, like Bubblegum Crisis, for instance. Sure, they could've released multiple episodes per tape, but then they wouldn't have been able to make as much money off of each episode.
That's because they took out the Episode 1 credits and did a somewhat shitty fade out into the start of the second episode.
