- Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)
Right clicking on it, and the device says: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A USB port reset request failed.
Others like my Realtek sound device, fingerprint, etc, do not even appear. I have tried to uninstall drivers/devices, and reinstall the drivers/devices. This makes no difference.
Next, was a system restore, and there was a system restore point created 3 days ago. Restoring it to that did nothing.
Now, one USB port works, so I plug in my headset (HyperX cloud 2), which has it's own sound card, but that doesn't show up either, nor does the mic work, so something is up with this "working" port.
It's weird, it all worked fine yesterday, and I haven't installed anything new. What could possibly cause this? Hoping it's not a hardware issue, but it's weird that all of these suddenly fail, yet they're not exactly related to each other.
I'm running on Windows 10 if it helps. Any answers or suggestions would be appreciated. So far, Google is only giving me the obvious "restart PC/reinstall drivers and devices/etc"
EDIT: Found the HD Audio controller, it has a different message:
The requested operation was unsuccessful.
EDIT2: Fixed it. Uninstalling the drivers, then using a program called "registry recycle" (which those programs I am skeptical of using), then restarting the laptop seemed to have fixed it all. I'll leave this topic in the technical forum just in case anyone else ever runs into this problem.
