That would require effort on their parts.

Yeah I was wondering that myself. I could imagine sonic and the foreground being on the same plane, with the background flat in the background, but I couldn't imagine how streets of rage would work (unless it was quite sophisticated like you suggest).

Doesn't Sonic 1 have a mode that uses 3D to simulate a curved CRT screen? Thought I saw something along those lines...

I hope that mode lets you play as the police car.

Regarding the "expert control layout" for Shinobi III that link mentions, that was in the Genesis version, it isn't new for the 3DS version. Just barely anyone knows the code to activate it.

I really can't wait for these, been waiting for SEGA to do 3D classics since I first got my 3DS! The new features sound interesting for the different titles, and it will be cool to play that galaxy force 2 game as that one is new to me.

Sonic 1 and SoR in 3D will both be excellent :D

Invincibility in Ecco, one-hit kills in SoR, control de-simplification in Shinobi III...

To be honest, they could have shoved those new features (along with the lame "fish eye TV" mode) up their asses, and added widescreen support instead.

EDIT: Also, I can't believe they're releasing the Mega Drive version of Altered Beast. Boo, M2. :(

I said interesting, it doesn't mean that all are particularly for me or that I would use them all.

The one hit kills in SoR is not a feature I woul make use of. As for Shinobi III I have only previously played this on the PSP on the Mega Drive Collection. But Shinobi games have a reputation for being quite tough, so if a simpler control scheme helps some players, then why not?

The invincibility in Ecco could be useful for many as that game has a reputation of being very difficult.

The fish eye TV thing is merely a quirky feature and I think it might be fun to use.

The features are a nice addition whether or not they appeal to you or me personally, does not mean that they are without merit, some younger players will definitely make use of the features that reduce the difficulty I think.

At least it shows the devs are putting thought into things. Sure widescreen would be nice, I agree, but it is not the end of the world that its missing.

Altered beast is a game that I can't get that into, so it doesn't bother me which version they use anyway. I never understood the popularity of it, it's decent but it's not one of my personal favourites and there are other titles I'd probably rather have seen - that said I will buy all of these anyway.

Exactly. The feature here is actually adding more buttons for stuff that can normally be done with just three.

    It's kind of mind-boggling that they're touting it as a new feature/improvement.

Yeah I don't know Shinobi III that well...if they program a different control scheme in though, it technically is a new feature.

As would be not showing anything on the screen and calling it "Blind-Ninja Mode"! :v:

I only just noticed the news about SoR.

Seriously... How shit do you have to be at that game to want to use a "touch of death" mode?

Admittedly I'm seeing this from the viewpoint of a guy who knows all 3 games in and out from playing them for 20 years, but... Wow...

Hence why it's not a "new feature" as they're advertising.

Cool, playing in 3d will be interesting but too bad there isn't a "Sonic & Knuckles collection 3D"

Did Space Harrier get any new features added at all? Either way the 3D effect will make it real nice!
