Sonic Adventure is probably one of my favorite sonic games of all time (and the only 3D one worth its salt). I had a copy of the original DC version, and own the DX now. The expanse of the ancient world always did seem a bit odd, seeing as you spend such little time there.

I can very well see other parts of a story untold in the background. These come to mind...
  • Hamburger Statue- Surely it had some purpose. Surely.
  • The keys to Emerald Coast for Big's adventure- http://www.youtube.c...h?v=B1q1FdSOGFQ, if you haven't seen it. That also brings up that there is water data for the ocean in Station Square.
  • Windy Valley's Floating Islands- On the less speedy portion of the stage, there are entirely unused but solid islands in the distance, and you can even reach them with Sonic.
  • The building at the top of the Egg Carrier Chao Garden
  • Tails' Workshop Roof- Every character except Big can get up there. It also has an unopenable door.
  • The unused sound clip for the Egg Carrier: The Sea (Sound test in DX, not sure if its in the original).
  • Eggman's Rec Room, the Cabin in the Mystic Ruins, the apparent soap opera going on amongst Station Square denizens, and of course, Metal and Silver Sonic (though these are probably just cameos).
I also distinctly remember getting lost in the ancient world. That and consistently failing at playing Big and Amy.

It's used in a mission in SADX.

Seems to be something they couldn't complete (as we know, it's buggy and keys fall), so they just left it out due to time constraints.

Again, they're used in a mission in SADX, the one where Tails needs to get the flags. And yes, that annoys me.

Also there's the unused sounds titl_ss, titl_mr1, titl_mr2 and titl_egg. Where were they used? It was supposed that they were for the load screens, but that's it. The only time I've seen one of them (titl_ss) being used is when finishing the trial version of SADX.

titl_egg is used when the Egg Carrier transforms. Then titl_ss was the trial versions ending, I'm pretty sure I heard titl_mr1 before, I jsut can't remember what it was used for. And the last one, seems like an alternate transforming of the EC to me.

Wrong, the sound sequence used when the Egg Carrier transforms is different.

Then why is it in pure SA1 too if it was meant for SADX's trial?

Should be somewhere in Mystic Ruins then.

No >_>

titl_ss -> Station Square
titl_mr1 -> Mystic Ruins (jungle?)
titl_mr2 -> Mystic Ruins (non-jungle?)
titl_ec -> Egg Carrier

It has been speculated that they were used when the adventure maps are loading, by the way.

Uh no, that is the sound when the EC transforms. I play SA1's full story at least once a month sometimes twice, I know most of the sounds by heart.

And I'll check later, but the SADX trial sound was probably in SA1 E3 demo also when you beat the levels.

Those sounds don't seem to be the same...

Later I'll see if I can find one from the original Sonic Adventure (and not SADX), but still, my point stands =P

EDIT: >_>
So there are two transform sounds... WTF?

Still doesn't explain titl_mr1 and titl_mr2 anyways.

Wrong scene. It's the one after hitting the button and it transforms back for the first time.

It's when Sonic transforms it back to normal that it makes that sound.

Also, the fuck? Of course it has water data. It's a massive pool of water. All water in SADX/SA1 has the same data. Big can float in any of it.

Sonic can stand on all background material in that level, as a matter of fact. But which act are you reffering to, before or after that tornado? Because E-102 goes there as well, as far as I know.

(You can also stand on the background mountains in Red Mountain, but not on the plateau in the distance, or inside those ghost cages. Just, you know, for the record.)

# The building at the top of the Egg Carrier Chao Garden

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Knuckles can climb both the "door" to Tails' workshop and the door at that building? Because if he does, then they're simply background material.

Played for like 10 seconds when E-102 returns to broken Egg Carrier in the storyline. They must've messed something up, because it's clearly not playing when it should be (crashed Egg Carrier @ ocean hub, I suppose).
If it's even a glitch...them lazy bastards never bothered to fix it, even for the "DeluX" version.

And I wouldn't be bothered by it if it wasn't such an awesome tune.

Actually, what interests me is that Tails' Speed Highway explores a different section. In other levels, Tails goes to the same areas as other characters, but, in Speed Highway, he has a new section. It makes me wonder if Sonic's Speed Highway night section was longer, originally, going through the now Tails-only geometry.

I think we might have dodged a bullet on that count. Speed Highway's night section is already the worst Sonic stage in the game; if it was longer...

This should clear up what I was saying about Windy Valley. Yes, I'm aware that E-102 plays this stage as well, and, after going back and playing the level as him, I realized that the "extra level data" is from E-102's version of the level, sans enemies, fences, most objects, etc. My bad.

I felt that the mission mode was just tacked on as incentive to buy a game you've already played. At any rate, this is all speculation; what if the statue was originally meant to be used in the story?

True, and you can splash around in the shallows. But just because it's water, doesn't mean you can swim in it. Try jumping in the "ocean" at Mystic Ruins. Big falls right through it.

I'm not entirely sure, but once again, this is all speculation. What if the Egg Carrier Chao garden building was supposed to be another Chao Race Stadium?

Hmm, never noticed that. I'll have to go back and check that out.
Edit: Yep, it's there all right. Too bad that wasn't the crashed ship theme and just a song to be played during a psuedo-cutscene.

Secondarily, I forgot why I liked E-102's story so much. They actually made a half-assed decent attempt at characterizing a robot, and it worked.

I think the windy vally first area is way too short for what they give you and the tornado which sucks you up comes in too early, easily should have been longer but they decided to shorten it.

I never got far in the DX version, I should grab it again for cheap for my cube. Any screenshots or videos of the area from the tails flag mission? how large is that area behind the tornado?

Ah I forgot E102 uses a slightly different layout, but still leaves unused assets.

What about all the lost scenery from early Windy Valley screenshots?

It was actually in the area after the tornado ._.' One of the flags is in one of the islands that need to be reached by flying, and that sucks -_-
