Some time ago I've read about a Tool made by Westwood Studios the "Mega-WICE" (Westood Icon & Character Editor), more precisely, this man developed it ... it was shipped with the SEGA Genesis Dev Kit as the character graphic art tool ... the tool was essential for working with large images because it was not possible to fill a screen with completely unique tiles... I'm suspecting the tool is the same that's on Hidden Palace named SEGA Art Tool ... the page was written by Sonic Retro Researcher Evilhamwizard ... Joseph Hewitt the developer is also trying to find it (I've read some of his comments on a website where he express the wish in seeing it again)... is there anyone here with technical knowledge to take a look at the code and help to unravel this? The tool was used in X-Men for Mega Drive/Genesis for laying out art within 8x8 character map tiles....

Ok i have some bad news and some good news... bad news first... that tool it's not Mega Wice .... the good news it was Mr. Joseph B. Hewitt IV (the developer of "Mega WICE", and Graphics artist at Westwood Studios from 1988 to 2003 , he worked on The Lion King, Dune II, etc ) who told me on Reddit ... here's wath he said :

"Me -- Greetings Mr. Hewitt... i know this might look strange to you sir ... im Portuguese, a Sega Fan and retro gamer... some time ago I've read some comments you made (i can't remember where) in a blog where you were looking for the Mega-Wice (Westwood Icon & Character Editor) ... i will ask you if you could take a look at this image and see if it's in fact what you were looking for? I don't want to look intrusive sir...

Mr. Hewitt -- Nope, that's not it. MegaWICE was on the PC and didn't have any connection to the console at all. We had those Chinese things that you plugged in to the cartridge slot that were really designed to pirate games to see what the art looked like on the console. At about $100 they were a lot cheaper than getting all the artist their own dev system.
Thanks for asking though. I'd really love to see that program again.

Me -- Thank you for answering, sir... "those Chinese things" ... are you referring to this? https://segaretro.org/Super_Magic_Drive ... i will not bother you more ,sir ... I'm not a stalker... I'm a member of https://segaretro.org/Main_Page and http://www.sonicretro.org/ a community dedicated to preserve sega history and all about Sonic the Hedgehog ... we have a forum ... i'll leave the links here in case you want to take a visit...

Mr. Hewitt -- Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. I'll check out those links when I get home. Feel free to shoot me a message if you think I can help with anything else, though there is no guarantee that what I may think I remember is actually correct.

Me -- Thank you very much sir ... all the help will be appreciated ... we rely mostly on web research and contributions from the community... so we're somewhat limited in terms of sources of information... ''

I didn't want to annoying him so I've not questioned him that much...
