His legs are too long, the socks are supposed to start right after his belly and move slightly away in the second frame. (not just up and down.) His foot is supposed to touch the edge of his muzzle. Also, the original sprite seems to have bigger pupils.
Why is only Sonic's foot [and a tiny bit of his leg] moving, and not the whole leg like in the original? The HD one just looks weird when it's moving like that o.o
Hmm. -The left arm is too visible in both frames. This is partly due to the shoes being too far away from his head and body. -The spines should start and finish in the same places for both frames. They seem to go down in the second frame. -The tongue shouldn't move from its place. -The right ear should change shape in the second frame. -The whole right leg should be moving, instead of just part of it.
While reworking on Sonic's sliding animation, I've been updating Eggman's stand so: Comparison with old one:
HURRAAY! Thank you! I don't know how, but the eyes seem very slightly... off - even though they are perfectly in line; it might just be because of the highlight on the nose is sort've blending in to his face
It's the preview for now, still need to work on legs! C&C please Uh I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean! Maybe a smaller highlight would be any better?
Just a quick reply here, but in the falling animation, when his mouth opens you have an extra shadow appearing on the right. I can see how this has been interpreted from the original; however, I believe that the added pixels in the original here are actually used as pseudo anti-aliasing for the black lines on his mouth, a technique that's also used on the bottom-left-hand side of his mouth for that same purpose. It appears to me that the lack of space on the right means that the two added brown pixels join with the existing brown pixels that define the edge of Sonic's muzzle, resulting in the larger brown area you've interpreted as this extra shadow on the right. Aside from that I see only one other problem - shouldn't we at least be able to see a tiny bit of Sonic's other leg in the second frame? His back foot doesn't appear to be connected to his body at all. At the resolution the original sprite is at, I'm guessing that what little should be seen would have been totally obscured by his other leg as it would have been impossible to draw without making too much of it visible, but the higher resolution sprite should allow for a small detail such as this to be filled in. Other than those minor niggles, it's looking awesome. = ) Keep up the good work!
Does his arm do that in the original sprite? Sonic's right arm moves a LOT farther than his hand does.
Uploading it to database. I just started another "popular" animation Any kind soul would please help me cleaning all those images with a transparent BG? MDANIMS
At first I thought that pose above (not the spin dash) was the water (or, in Sonic 2's case, oil) slide pose, but I can't tell for sure because I can't find a good sprite sheet for Sonic. Where can I find the one's you're using? Also, I don't believe Sonic had a line across his palm in any of the poses.
Thanks SANiK. Ok, I see now, one of his sliding sprites is the "hurt" sprite. And that line was there. it looks like it's supposed to be the "ball" of Sonic's hand, rather than going straight down the middle. And to be honest, I think this pose needs a tween frame or two.
