    This is either 16-bit GHZ masterfully brought to the Master System, or a heavily downgraded GHZ in 16-bit Sonic 1.

    I'm going to guess the former, but either way, really cool.

    Just after the two minute mark of that video, a ton of rings fly out after Sonic is hit. Even with all of the sprite flicker, is Master System capable of handing that many sprites onscreen without any slowdown? Same with the ton of animals that pop out at the end, and there's even less flickering going on there.

    I'm having a hard time figuring out if that's really a Master System. This might be a far out guess, but is it possibly Atari Lynx?

    This is an absolute stretch, but it almost looks like the graphics were zoomed out, then rescaled to be proportioned properly, and is being done so in real-time.

    I personally think it's just stock Sonic 1 with its art loading routines modified to make it all look blocky and music changed up a bit, along with setting the horizontal resolution to 256 pixels, and deleting the background data.

    As for the sprite flickering, vladikcomper did point out "flicker effects", so I think the added flickering is done by software in some way.

    Someone recreated the Metal Sonic race in Sonic 2. I don't think that's been replicated before, so good work on this guy.

    Ah, so he's in the scene. I don't go to SSRG so I had no idea, but neat!

    And yea I agree with you, that awful SCD jump sound effect (and on my personal preference, Sonic 1 sprites eww). Still cool though.
