Does anyone have a list of the beats per minute for all of the songs in Sonic 3K, or is there some program that can figure this out for me? Thanks.

Most audio DAWs offer support for finding the BPM of a song. I recommend Zulu DJ Software, as it's completely free. You can download all of the songs from Sonic 3K on the wiki.

EDIT: The auto-beatfinding seems to be iffy with Sonic tunes, but you can always tap the beat in too.

It works well enough for my purposes, thanks a bunch!

No, at this point you might as well post the results of your experiments here, in case someone else needs BPMs for those songs, or in case you get wrong results and someone wants to tell you that you're doing it wrongsmile.png

edit: sometimes I type like a noob.

Not all the tracks are here, just what I needed.

Also, since the thread is still open, does anyone have high quality versions of the voice samples? You know, the "Go" from Launch Base, the "C'mon" from the Midboss song. If no one has them, I was just gonna splice them out of some MJ songs.

Thanks for the list, hopefully it will be useful to someone else in the future smile.png

As for the samples, I'm sure somewhere on this forum there are the ones extracted directly from the ROM, but I'm not sure they're high quality enough for what you're doing...

Yeah, that's the stuff. Thanks.

I dunno how accurate the BPM list I posted is, by the way. I seem to recall reading somewhere in the Sonic 4 thread that Angel Island 1 was 133 BPM. =/

You know, I'm dumb. I just realised you can use the BPM from the midi files in the Sonic & Knuckles Collection <_<

I'll edit this post later with a list.

I have no idea what BPMs are for what track, and I don't have the MIDIs on me. Can you let me know, if it's not a problem? I appreciate the help. As far as I can tell, the BPMs I found are completely wrong.

That was me actually. sad.png

Also, about the music (BPM = beats per minute [est.]):
150 BPM - Sonic 1 GHZ (C Major with an emphasis on F)
138 BPM - Sonic 2 EHZ
133 BPM - Sonic 3 AIZ
117 BPM - Sonic&K MHZ
159 BPM - THIS SONG (F Major)

But they were only estimates: I was actually figuring out the numbers the old-fashioned way by using a real metronome that I have and found that 133 was very close to the song's tempo when I played the game itself. But I'm glad to know I was off by only 3 BPM! smile.png

It is possible, and it is actually very likely, that the midi files in the S&K Collection have a slightly different speed than the original songs on the Genesis, so your 133 estimate might be correct as well.

This is excellent, thanks! Hopefully I'll be able to share what I've been working on soon. =)
