One thing I never understood about Little Planet is how it's covered with metal and machinery in the opening video, implying this is the "Present", but when you play the actual game the "Present" is your typical Sonic stuff, while the "metal and machinery" more accurately depicts the "Bad Future" areas - but Sonic's clearly going up to the machinery-covered planet from the present, and doesn't start the game off in a Bad Future, but...

Continuity! psyduck.png

Same here. I just assumed that some of the planet was metal, and the other part we couldn't see was okay, because the later stages are mechanical themed anyway.

Judging from the artwork that has just been posted, that's the most likely explanation. The metal cover that chains it to the ground is still half-built, hence why it might look odd in the intro cutscene.

A Friend of mine, DaGuAr has found some nice scans of the JP Sonic CD PC Manual.
over on Sonic Reikai.

I've also kept my search up for CD reference art, while working on CD Remix bit by bit.
If anyone else has some high quality stuff, I'll be here!
((Also looking for some special stage background layer rips.
If anyone has these please let me know.))

(from EVA on Sonic Reikai)
A cleaner little planet from the PC manual, Not as milky, and seems to be mirrored to that of the Mega CD manual version.

(from EVA on Sonic Reikai)
and a large Character Cast image.
We can see alot of details here, especially on the little planet, (if you look closely you can actually see the little planet's surface under the metal shell.
Next step is to remodel that little planet image for use in CD remix's title screen.

Wow this is awesome! I've also been wanting bigger and nicer versions of these pictures, especially of the main cast together. This surely made my afternoon! smile.png

Hey does anyone have or know where to get any of the media ripped from Sonic Gems collection?
Example, Videos, images, etc?
I remember seeing something about videos on cult awhile back,
checked again and all links were down related to anything extracted from the game.

Was it you who asked about this before on the CulT? I remember someone asked about ripping the image from the credits, but the SFD quality is terrible. I DO think I still have the image converter for all the gems image formats, however, I also remember them being very low resolution.

I remember I've asked, on Cult (or here?), for somebody to rip the Sonic 1 concept-arts and that Sonic CD group picture. Speaking of that one, someone ripped it at a decent size without the logos and stuff. I downloaded it but it was on my older computer that died two years ago...

(watch for falling edits !)
If anyone finds anything interesting in the music department than please by all means! post it !

Check out 0:19
2 Unlimited - Workaholic---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSb7YdRq0C0
can anyone guess what stage this sounds like its similar to?
(Hint its a bad future)
Sonic CD---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zjo9uibRgYA

(EDIT:) Also check out the keyboard melody below at time 1:04,
recognize it? its the Japanese special stage!
808 State - Pacific State ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLxDRePUwEY
Sonic CD---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIr9bhyxjew

2 birds with 1 stone so to speak?
Sonic CD---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPqDhFL15gA

(Another edit:)
I'm not sure but the beat seems like JP Collision chaos just a bit starting at 0:35.
Adamski - I Love Teknology ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBVK1EvOJjU...feature=related
Sonic CD----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAbvP1l6H3o

(Added new comparason)
Some of Betty Boo's songs seem to have some similarities with with good future and present of Tidal Tempest.
However I can't put my finger on them.
However I did pick up on some beat from Wacky Workbench Good future.
check out 0:17
- I'm On My Way ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLl7lKbSN8A
comparable to 0:14

The oil in the SS has been known for some time now, and iirc Segaloco got the oil slicks to work in the 510 beta. (Though maybe it was in the final game, my memory is failing me now. v.png) As for Metal Sonic, I can't tell the difference. :\ (Though I haven't really checked. v.png)

Yeah I figured it was well known, also the metal sonic doesn't seem to have the purple glow effect around him, but now that I think about it that could have been edited out by the magazine company.

Also I didn't know Segaloco had done something like that! Thanks for the bit of info, going to have to hunt that one down.
hnmm what about the round flying saucers or puff seed thing? were they found as well?

If you are looking for SCD like music then here are my suggestions.

Chigago house, particularly Steve "silk" Hurley ("Good Life" is so SoR) and The Night Writers. Also Mr. Lee's "Come to house."

Future Sound of London the "Accelorator" album, also "We Have Explosive" (none of these are available on YouTube.)

Quadrophonia and T99.

Early Orbital, "Speed Freak" "The Mobius" "Chime" and "Desert Storm."

Early Moby "Drop A Beat" and "Ahaa."

I was looking for music that probably inspired the creators of sonic CD's soundtrack.
something that has some of the actual same patterns in rhythm and or sound,
some of these are great finds, here. and fit the bill perfectly.
T99 was one that I was about to add to the list last night.

EDIT:
found info on wikapedia that a line from Work That Sucker to Death was mixed into the Boss theme.

because I'd like to know more about sonic CD's development, not just music but other things as well.
Do we have any authorities on the matter browsing the forums here?

I'm quite certain that Hataya was a major Chigago House fan, infact the whole original Sonic Team probably were, if you look at the imagery of early house, you'll see that it is quite Sonic like, particulary S1 and SCD. If you look at the album cover of T99 "Children of Chaos" you will probably see something, Chigago House Labels also used similar logos.

The first time I heard Quadrophonia "Quadrophonia" I just thought fuck me does that sound like SCD, it's sort of a mash up of Metallic Madness and Tidal Tempest past. It's also worth noting that T99, Quadrophonia and 2 Unlimited are the same person, just with different collaborators. Another album worth listening to is "The Experience" by the Prodigy.

That is all very interesting, I think this sort of info should be mentioned in a sonic CD wiki or something as an of extra.
