PROJECT SURVIVAL SONIC RETRO THREAD SAGE 2016 DEMO AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD NOW! http://gamejolt.com/games/sonic-project-survival-sage-2016-demo/199383 Sonic: Project Survival is a 2D Sonic fangame that pays homage to the classic series, and adopts the gameplay that Classic Sonic fans all know and love. The game is currently being made in Game Maker 8 using the GMATE engine. I'm The Blue Renegade, the lead developer and level designer of Team Survival. What we aim to achieve with Project Survival is a classic experience similar to the likes of Sonic 2 & 3 but also bringing new gimmicks and ideas to the table to make it stand out from other fangames and the original Sonic trilogy. Because we all know, it's easy to get lost in a crowd. The game will contain brand new art from Goncas, Tpot, LooneyDude and MtH to bring alive brand new innovative zones(with maybe with some inspirations as well) accompanied by an original soundtrack composed and arranged by Noah Copeland, dante (Sir Spacebar), MtH and DanRock Productions. In terms of what we have to provide, first up is a promotional video provided by Matt of TailsChannel, describing the general outline of the game and his own thoughts during his beta testing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vlEGqUk1u0 Next, we have 60fps gameplay videos of both acts 1 and 2 of the first zone in the game, Riverside Park. Riverside Park Act 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0A2Y806jos Riverside Park Act 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVKv7_BOzg8 And if you enjoyed the act themes, the respective composers have uploaded clean versions of them onto their soundclouds: Riverside Park Act 1: https://soundcloud.com/noahcopelandcomposer/riverside-park-act-1-project-survival Riverside Park Act 2: https://soundcloud.com/sir-spacebar/riverside-park-act-2-project-survival Project Survival will more than likely release it's first demo on the week of SAGE 2016, which commences October 15th. The demo will contain the full zone of Riverside Park, which composes of three acts. In the meantime, I suggest you check out the official twitter for the most recent updates regarding the game: https://twitter.com/SonicSurvival With that said, thank you for reading this thread and I'll see you this SAGE! ~The Blue Renegade THE SURVIVAL TEAM: The Blue Renegade LooneyDude Goncas TheValeev Black Ace Sir Spacebar Noah Copeland MtH DanRock Productions ChronosZX SunkythePootis Tpot CyclonX
Looks nice. The water surfing mechanic looks neat too! It seems a little too safe though, but that could just be that this is the first zone. I hope you guys get more crazy in future zones!
Looks pretty good! Decent art and a competent engine - you have the foundation for something potentially great here. Love the surfboard sequence. That part was surprising and awesome. Reminds me of the similar sequence from Ice Cap Zone. I do somewhat agree with RGamer in that this looks a little generic and "safe" if that's an apt descriptor. This however is only the first zone so perhaps you have interesting ideas for subsequent zones. Excellent work so far though! A really good engine coupled with a strong game. Looking forward to seeing more! I'll definitely try out the demo come SAGE. Please do keep us updated.
I don't really see how that's necessary. While it is nice, I wouldn't expect people to specifically credit me when saying they used Sonic MAX, and I don't think Techokami would expect you to specifically credit him for Worlds. Our names are attached to the engines and projects we make, so it's not really an issue. Should they specifically credit Mark Overmars and YoYoGames because they used GameMaker? lol Besides, there's a reason it says "currently".
Leveldesign seems to be really good on top of very lovely artwork and music. Looking forward to playing it.
I can say that Bridge Zone was definitely one of the main inspirations for Riverside Park. Like I said, we may have a few references to classic Sonic games here and there. I've updated the main post on this thread to include the game's logo and embedded videos. With that said, take a look at this: https://twitter.com/SonicSurvival/status/775748559022985216
Oh hey, I remember seeing this in videos on your channel. Nice to know I'll get to play it at SAGE this year.
Not too long now. It's always nice outside when it comes to night time. The fireflies are dancing against the moonlight and...what's this? Is that...that BAD guy?
I agree with DVD and Violet, a yellow outline and drop shadow really would make the HUD better by giving it the consistency it needs.
A little late with this one but the Sonic: Project Survival demo is now available to play! http://gamejolt.com/games/sonic-project-survival-sage-2016-demo/199383 Or alternatively you can download from the SAGE booth! http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/SAGE/2016/sonic-project-survival/
