Some of you already know this, but late last night the first episode of the Sonic Retro Podcast was uploaded and made available through the wiki. You can download it in the Sonic Retro Podcast article. Of course, this is just a preliminary way to deliver the podcast. We're working on a better way to distribute the podcast using Wordpress (or some other blogging platform) as well as using publicly available podcast directories. (ie; iTunes)

Here's a little summery of what to expect from Episode 0 - Slamma Lamma Ding Dong!
  • Community Hacking Project - We take a look at progress being made on Sonic AX and The S Factor.

  • Main Topic - Naka's Sonic vs. Oshima's Sonic - The original Sonic the Hedgehog was a combined effort of Oshima (the creator of Sonic as a character) and Naka (the lead programmer of the game). However, Sonic 2 and Sonic CD was lead almost completely separate from each other. Each game was lead by Naka (Sonic 2) and Oshima (Sonic CD) with individual teams and visions of Sonic. We take an in-depth discussion on both styles and discuss where Sonic would be now had it taken the way of Sonic CD.

  • Spam Mail Reading - All work and no play makes Tails a dull fox. It's not all facts and hacks, right? So for the sake of humor we reach into our spam folders to pull out some emails that are funny, nonsensical, and even a little poetic.
I hope you all enjoy this first podcast. However, remember it's pretty experimental and unpolished. The quality isn't really top-notch and we did this spur-of-the-moment around 4 AM. By all means though, give us feed back so we can make the show better.

Dudes. You got to let me in on this. I am an avid Sonic Fan. I could probably provide the masses with interesting tips and tricks for various games.

Also, I think listener interaction would be a nice addition. Like we ask a question in one episode, and have peoples send us their thoughts on it, and we go over some of them in the next episode.

I'm listening to the first episode, and I really want to be in on this. Something's come up, but it shouldn't effect the 29th.

I'm really enjoying it. If you keep this up, I think it would be awesome to have as a subscription like through iTunes.

Wow, I missed quite a bit; so now there's a weekly skypecast? That's quite awesome! Too bad I'll be gone for the next four sundays.

This is great. I would surely love to be a part of this. I'm free every week until September, whenever you guys want me, whatever time, whatever timezone. I would be dedicated to this project.

From what I can see, all the hosts are old, such as they were playing the game when it first came out. You really need a POV from someone from the younger generation.

Although, according to my dad, the internet goes down every 8 and a half minutes, so I won't be able to actually host it on my computer, but if I can just reconnect when I'm back up, then it shouldn't be too much fuss, right?

....

T.T I'm not that old....

Anyway, having to constantly reconnect would kind of be a problem, since editing a recording like that would be a bitch and a half.

At the moment I'm hooked up to my direct line, though, and my old people are trying to get the router fixed.
They think it is the router, as the direct line has never cut out.

Ever.

But yeah, if it is fixed in time, though, then I would be able to help out with whatever.

Other than the debates of modern and old-school games, I enjoyed hearing the spam mail. Couldn't stop laughing.

I'm a little cheezed off that I never got invited to this despite coming up with the concept. Typical american, stealing british ideas! *shot*

But anyway, I've recently set up my server to run windows and have 100mbits, so I've basically got the whole skypecasting rig on the server itself, and it records all the shows broadcast with it. I hope that maybe my Sonic Community Radio station can host this show live as it's being made and it can then be avaliable on podcast later!

/me marks out at the 'old' comment

He's younger than me, and I'm typically on the younger end of original Sonic players... the younger generation than that... wouldn't that be people who grew up with Sonic Adventure and Sonic R? They might not be old enough to properly speak over a podcast, especially if it had to be long distance...

Oh well.

/me wanders over to the corner with the 'old' people :p

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I already offered to stream the skypecasts on Saz FM and Tweaker agreed. You might be able to simulcast though if you want.

Would help if more podcasts were actually done *runs*
