This guy takes speed runs of older videogame levels, and well, takes a unique twist to them.

I'd recommend watching it in 720p or 1080p so you can have a better of idea of what's going on, it's pretty damn cool although it would've been more interesting if they didn't use a TAS Video with it.

If people jump on their videos and rate high and comment a bunch I bet we could attract the maker here, and show him some love. Just like how Yuzoboy started kickin it here. Appreciating peoples work causes them to do more of it. Commented and thumbed up, favorited. Not just because of that, but it's really good work.

    His main channel is NesAtlas:

He thinks that splitting his videos up into multiple game-system channels will work, but for getting subscribers, probably not.

Ahaha, well that was awesome, I like the unique fullview level concept, it really makes it easier to see exactly what's going on and how the speed run was archived, now if I could only see more speed runs in that form, I'd be entertained for a lifetime...

That's something you don't see everyday. It's pretty damn awesome, too.

    This.

Still though, pretty damn sweet video. I'd like to see a 100% completion speedrun in this style.

This really made me realize how half-assed the levels in Sonic CD looked.

    Good video, though.

I was hoping this would get moved to General Gaming, so if any mod could do that so it'd get a broader audience that would be nice.

This worked exactly as you planned it. I'm glad you guys like the videos!

Using a TAS is not necessary to achieve this result, but I chose to use them since the play through is really fast (less frames to work on). Anyone could create their own input file while playing on an emulator which would allow you to play it back while exporting the footage. Before I was using raw emulator footage I would download a YouTube video, but the quality was never that good. And I did use a 100% speedrun (tool-assisted) of Metroid:

Yup! Almost done with it but will probably need another day or two. I animated a couple objects off-screen which gives it a great look!

    Okay here's Wing Fortress Zone:

I also have a torrent file which is 1080p @ 60fps (looks much better than YouTube):

EDIT: YouTube Compression Sample (Original file looks much better @ 1080p)

I've realized there's almost no end to how far one can animate off-screen objects in such a large level. Each item adds more production time so I quit with what I had before I went crazy.

I also want to give a shout-out to samothethief and partyboy1a who are working to make these videos automated!

How in the world did you animate those platforms? This is quite an amazing speedrun.

I recorded Sonic standing next to each platform for roughly 2 minutes then just synced the footage over the map. There is also a work-in-progress speed run which finishes the game even faster.

    Blast Processing.

You're a god, that's all I can say. That's quite amazing! Bet a lot of time went into perfecting that technique to make that.

I always laughed at how the HUD moved with Sonic but in all seriousness great job doing these. How long does it usually take you to make each of these videos? Seems like it would take alot of work.

That was great. Except the annoying GENs jump sound. :/
