Thanks for making this it's own topic.

To start off, the 10.8 version prototype is the most interesting one. 11.18 is probably near the same as the Final version. By default, 10.8 has the Japanese language selected. But you can select the English language from the game's menu. And yes, there is a debug mode enabled in this build. I'm not sure how many debug features are enabled, but I did find one. Since this game doesn't want to boot up on an actual Gamecube (SDLoader, :)), I used Dolphin x64 to take these pictures. Sorry if the graphic quality isn't the best, but at least it plays at near full speed. :P

Here are the screenshots (should've taken these in a smaller window size):

This little debug screen can be enabled on a stage by pressing L+R.
Title screen. Looks familiar to those who've played the E3 Demo released on the Xbox.
Main menu. Does it look different? The only noticable difference I saw was that in the final, you could highlight anything from any direction. However in this build, you can only hit up/down to move around this screen.
Team select screen. Notice how the position of each character is a little off from the final.
All the music/cgi movies are already enabled for viewing in this build.

Inside the game itself, some of the music is changed here and there. For example Hang's Castle (inside/act 2) is missing a guitar, some of the Versus mode tracks are WIP tracks (some of them sound like they came from a DS), and the "beta" Casino Park music that was included on the Sonic Heroes OST is used in here as well.

Hope someone else with better knowledge and time picks up this game. Would love to see if there's anymore debug features in this game.

EDIT: Christ, and I just noticed the "Screenshot" hotkey in Dolphin. I'll remember to use it next time, I promise. :P

  2. Heh, beat me too it =3 good reporting.

Btw, even though the music and movies are all unlocked, the players don't work for them yet. However, the movies do play in story mode. At least Team Chaotix does. Although the movie seems very quiet compared to the final. I think the background music is missing.

Check the intro movie, does it have the old sonic Patch squares or a realistic texture like the final? I remember seeing a preview build with the checkers we all know.

I could but I'm trying different things to convert the SFD files, and also attempt to view them. They don't load at all on Dolphin, and there's a really good program I used to use called "Cube Media Player" but that some how disappeared from the internet.

From what I can hear from most of these videos though, some of them that appear later in the game lack sound effects (Metal Sonic has his normal voice, it's not filtered) and also BGM.

If you want to look at the opening movie from this build yourself, I uploaded it for you here. :)

A little off topic: Has anyone ever bothered to look at the Sonic Heroes E3 Demo for the Xbox to see if some of the files on this demo can be loaded ingame? Ocean Palace might be playable in this build but it doesn't appear on the demo's level select. The music uses the "How to play" stage's music, but from the file name I don't think it is the "How to play" stage at all. Other than that, there're TXD files in here that appear to be for later levels but I can't view them with the TXD tools released. If anyone wants to take a crack at what can be loaded inside, that'd be great. Playing Xbox backups and homebrew had a huge jump since this was released. And since it's small (around 100mb), it should be easy to play around with. If anyone wants this build, I can upload it if you want. :)

Can't you just replace these videos in the PC version, to watch them?

The main menu in the 10.8 prototype is missing the tabs on the top left of the four options, and the "Exit" option is missing.
Here's a picture of the main menu in the final:

    Sonic Heroes Final: Main Menu

Sorry for the small image size.

IIRC that's present only in the PC version. It wouldn't make sense for a console game to have an "exit" option anyway :P

In retrospect, you're right, it wouldn't make much sense.

In the Team Select screen, not only are the character positions off, but they're also not in the poses that they're in on the final version. Also, is the Final story enabled in the Team Select on the 10.8 build, or does it still require you to collect the Chaos Emeralds?

I'm some weeks late, but whatever... Yeah, I'd want that build as well :) Don't really know anything about Heroes' data files and stuff, but I'd like to have it just for trying it out and messing with it somewhat.

I probably should get back to work on my site someday...
If there's anyway to rip the different music tracks from this game it would be quite awesome.

I have an ADX extension player for WinAmp, maybe that would work?

    Have fun. :*

For some of the files, I was able to get DDS files from them. So the format isn't too different.

Also, yeah. Replacing the videos from the final PC version with the 10.8 videos works. However, this build isn't as early as the build where CulT's prerelease videos came from. So you'll hear sound/music for the early videos. But most of the Final story videos won't have music/sound (like the Metal Sonic transformation scene - really cool btw).

For the different music, there are a couple but not a lot that are entirely different. If you want to find out, get the GCM yourself dammit. :P

If you do decide to get the GCM and extract it, the music for later stages have either missing instruments or are WIP versions. You'll notice a few from the OST release.

Here's the entire ADX collection from 10.8.

And here's a list of songs that have differences for sure:

    Code (Text):
    1. SNG_STG05.adx - Casino Park ~ Entirely different. If you have the OST, you'll know what this is.
    2. SNG_STG12.adx - Hang Castle ~ Missing instrument. Guitar is missing from the middle of the song, listen to Part C to hear what I mean.
    3. SNG_STG14.adx - Final Fortress ~ Missing instrument. Guitar that plays the main melody is missing.
    4. SNG_STG22.adx - Mini Boss ~ Entirely different. "Shut Up Faker!" track from Sonic Adventure 2 is used. In the final, this is entirely brand new.
    5. SNG_V04_TR.adx - Theme for Team Rose ~ Missing Vocals. No vocals at all, and I think the drums might be different.*
    6. SNG_BTL01.adx - Battle 1 ~ Missing instrument. Main melody is gone. Note, the main melody wasn't a guitar but synth.
    7. SNG_BTL02.adx - Battle 2 ~ Entirely differnet. A WIP track of the final version composed entirely with synth.
    8. SNG_BTL03.adx - Battle 3 ~ Missing instrument? I think it's missing something, anyway.
*Note: I know for sure this is different from the final. The rest of the SNG_V0# files are the main themes for each team. All other teams besides Team Rose have vocals and are not changed.

Here's a list of ADXs that are missing from 10.8:
    Code (Text):
    1. SNG_BTL04.adx
    2. SNG_BTL05.adx
    3. SNG_E0017.adx
    4. SNG_E0117.adx
    5. SNG_E0404.adx
    6. SNG_SYS2.adx
    7. SNG_SYS3.adx
    8. SNG_SYS4.adx
This is all I found in regards to music. You're more than welcome to find more differences to post here.

EDIT: Speaking of Sonic Heroes music. I remember way back when Pachuka was leaking some new dirt on Sonic Heroes when he made a news post with Sonic Heroes beta music but only had it up for like, a day. Does anyone have these anywhere? Also, I remember him releasing a whole bunch of Sega Meganet games but then that news post was gone as well. However, I think most of those roms made it into GoodGen. I could be wrong though.

Do you mind uploading only the ADX files that have notable differences? That'd be great. ;)

I wanted to upload everything originally to see if anyone could catch anything I didn't. But I should've done this in the beginning first. :P

I put this soundtrack playing throughout all morning and wrote notes on Notepad as I was working on other stuff. Here's a dump of that text file:

    Code (Text):
    1. SNG_BTL01 is missing main melody synth
    2. SNG_BTL02 is missing main melody synth, guitar track is played by synth, instrumentation is different
    3. SNG_STG02 has different percussion, and possibly the bass is louder
    4. SNG_STG05 is Casino Park (Original ver.) from the OST
    5. SNG_STG11A has different instrumentation, more reverb
    6. SNG_STG14 has different percussion and is missing the main melody synth
    7. SNG_STG21 has different note progression in the intro, different instrumentation
    8. SNG_STG22 is Sonic vs. Shadow from SA2
    9. SNG_STG27 is radically different and mostly incomplete
    10. SNG_SYS1 is missing one instrument, and the whole bridge (the chorus loops over and over)
    11. SNG_V01_MAIN is missing the bridge vocals
    12. SNG_V04_TR is instrumental and has different drums
    EDIT: typos

I added the music info up to the wiki too. I you wanna give the name of those songs Neo, so the article can be consitant, that would be great. Or at least where the songs are played in game.
