Ok I know all the 0's and 1's, 00-ff, and the 0-255 stuff but what I don't understand is what does this mean $425F4. One of the first things I'm trying to do before I start my Sonic 2 hack is port HPZ back in. Could anybody explain how I find that in the rom. If it meens anything I'm using UltraEdit-32 for hex editor

There should be a goto option, most likely on the edit menu (I haven't used UE-32 in a while), where you can type in the offset value. Make sure you do it from the beginning of the file, rather than from current position.

I tried the go to in the search category and still doesn't work.
Should I probably try a different Hex editor?

Probably, Hex Workshop is what Nemesis recommends and it seems like a good program, also you should only paste the number without the $ into the box and make sure it's in Hex mode not decimal, oh and here's the download link:

Of course I knew not to copy the $ and it was in hex mode, but ya I'll try out hex workshop plus I hate the annoying buy now button whenever you open it. Thanks for the link.

You can find a crack for it all over the place.
Shareware is pointless anyway, there's usually a freeware alternative, and even if there isn't it's never good enough to buy :P

Gah, I read the keygen over at Sonic Cult, but I can't remember what topic it was in...
