I just got a 2 CD Sonic Collection! It doesn't work!

I bought a two CD pack of Sonic games for Windows yesterday. On one CD is Sonic CD. On the other is Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. They call this one the 'Sonic and Knuckles Collection'. Sonic CD won't start, but all the others work fine. I've got XP. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

But here's the meat and potatoes of my post. On the Sonic and Knuckles Collection CD, I found a SFX folder with music and sounds from lots of Sonic games- Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, and the ones that are supposed to be there. (S3, S&K, S3&K) Is there a hidden jukebox or something? I haven't checked for missing/never before heard sounds or music yet, can someone tell me if its worth my time? And, if someone else has the same CD as I, can you look in these directories?

My computer/CD Drive/SONICSS/SOUND
Note: to browse inside the CD without AutoRun starting, right click its icon and scroll down to 'Explore'.

You cannot play sonic CD on XP 'cause XP doesn't have DOS. Your best choice is to download the ISO+MP3 mega CD version and play it on Gens.

My pack came with S3&K Collection, Sonic R(the one with no music), Sonic CD, and Sega Smash Pack 2.

I have a few other machines(*coughs* few is an understatement) and I'm able to play Sonic CD on those =P

Well, I've got the Sonic and Knuckles Collection. The music is basically all the same music from the Genesis versions, just on your PC. There aren't really "secret" BGMs, unless you count the ones from SonicPC or something like that. I forgot, but I'll check and let you know.

As for the game not working, all I can suggest is to go to Start, then go to All Programs. Then point the arrow to Accessories, and scroll down to Program Compatalibility Wizard. Follow the instructions, and it might work. But it depends on what year the game was made.

But if it doesn't work, then you can always delete WindowsXP, then install Windows98. ;)

The music for Knuckles' trap areas are very different.

There are a few changed songs, but I suppose only because some of the music relied on special sfx / sound that just can't be reproduced via MIDI.

True, true. But it still sounds somewhat like its Genesis counterpart.

First, I bought s and k collection for $10. Then I saw Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast in a pack together for $10, so I got those too. And later, I found the Sega Action 4 pack for $5. Go figure. My Sonic R had no music trouble though. Just like Sonic CD, the music is audio tracks. If you had 2 cd drives, and you tried playing the game in the other drive that you did not install in, the game won't detect the music (and won't let you play the game either unless you hacked it).

Windows XP really makes me mad sometimes. I wish there was a windows emulator for this new windows defect. It has its ups, but I use too many old programs. For example, I used NeoPaint to do all 56 of my 200x40 link logos on http://xfox_prower.t....com/links/logo in under 3 hours! The program is 10 years old now and is still being sold. Because its the DOS version, there's been no updates to it. (I prefer the DOS version because its custom GUI is so much cooler than the windows one. I get lost in the windows version because everything looks the same; plain white everywhere. There was a recent update for the Windows version and that one is XP compatible. But XP has still gone too far. I still use the old 16 mhz computer next to me running on DOS 6.22 for the classic stuff that XP can't handle though :D
