http://shit.sclassic.net/index.php/Sonic_C...kles%27_Chaotix ^_^ I'm pretty proud of myself. Well, there's not much yet. And the MARS thing is only sorta right, but if a complete idiot were to do it, they'd get it right. Feel free to fix my mistakes!
Mind if I add my RGB => 32X formula and note that it's the same as GBA color (hint: BOTH 32 bit color)?
Yes. I mind completely. What would make you think you could add something like that to something you don't even need my permission to change? Jerk! :P Go right ahead. I'm happy to be working on some more "uncovered" ground. ^_^
I remember finding the Sonic Crackers palettes inside the Chaotix ROM, many years ago. You should check it out and add them to the site. ...By the way, who had the cheerful idea of calling Sonic Crackers "Sonic Stadium" in that wiki site? That's atroceous.
Alright. I'll do a search for them in the Chaotix ROM. ICEknight, are they exactly the same? If not, I may have troubles finding them. EDIT: Heh. I can't find them. The Sonic and Tails ones at least. What ones are you referring to, ICEknight?
Added a bunch to the MARS color. I even added one of my better kept secrets (ok, it wasn't a secret, I just never want to dig throuhg my notes), Espio's rotating pallete. Your locations for the characters' palletes were off. (??). I fixed em'. The pointers to them all are at $18E4. Don't mind the 8 pointers at $1904. Those are unused alternate palletes for the characters. Of course, these pointers are the real location plus $700000.
Oh, alright, sorry. I just saw the pointer, saw what looked like the palettes and, well. They do look the same! Oh, and, thanks for the rotating palette, Heran.
Remember that the European version is somewhat different than the normal Chaotix ROM. Some palettes might have different offsets, so make sure you guys are working on the same one.
Oh. I was working on the Euro version. I should point that out on the SHIT thing. EDIT: Crap, that'll cause problems with my editor. Man, I'm getting nowhere fast.
The contents of the ROM are mostly the same in the NTSC and PAL versions of Chaotix. It's really, really weird. For example, all compressed art can be found at the exact same locations in both the NTSC and PAL. I believe it's the same with palletes. The problem with the original locations lostgame found are that he found most of it, but left off the first couple colors usually. Edit: I checked. The ROMs are different up till the major content starts appearing. The only reigonal descrepency I've found in the wiki is.. Espio's rotating pallete. The location I gave is NTSC, and out of all the MARS palletes listed there, that's the only one that differs between versions.
you know why do I hate SHIT? Because people, who originally find stuff, never get credit for it. Btw, the MARS palettes format is like that: XRRR RRGG GGGB BBBB I may be wrong about the R, G, B stuff, but it's not important. The X bit is. It is the priority bit. The palettes with X bit set will be drawn on top of those whose bit X is cleared.
A line at the end of the MARS conversion formula: Z + Y + Z = N Now, while I've not tested it, going simply by logic should it not be X + Y + Z = N?
I have to say I strongly agree with drx. It's much better to just make your own [hacking] guide if you know stuff.
Well, I dunno. I'm not searching for credit, or anything. I just wanna help the community and promote Chaotix stuff. If I was looking for credit, I would've made a much bigger deal out of it.
The point is, you don't write your name in Nemesis' guides, and analogically, you don't write your name instead of the original founders' name. Who the fuck cares if you discover something on your own, the person who discovered it first gets the credit. Imagine that someone comes into the community with eg. cracking the Nemesis' compression on his own. Does the compression method change its name to this guys name? No. Stop stealing other people's hard work. It's what's hacking is all about. People hack stuff not for money, but for credit. For this 3 words saying 'cracked/discovered/found by (insert name here)'. Without that, hacking is pretty much dead. People have spent their nights, which they could've spent doing something else, hacking stuff. Think about it.
What are you talking about? Are you talking to me? Sorry if I sound kinda ignorant, but I've already stated that I'm not looking for credit... If I wanted credit, I would've made my own guide, but then, how many people would see it/use it all the time/have access to it whenever they wanted? Very few. So, please stop being such a jack*** to me... If that wasn't directed at me, then I sincerely apologize and take back the previous statement.
