It also comes with Super Street Fighter 2, Sonic 1 and Sonic 2. Though is this the first appearance of Mega Man in the US?
This one doesn't look that bad actually. but I'll wait until someone here buys it and gives a proper review.
That button layout looks horrible to me. I will not be interested due to that, but it is nice that Wily Wars is actually built into the device. Now the debate is do I have to buy one of these things to make my Mega Man collection even more complete... =P
As mentioned, the button layout looks terrible. But this looks like it could be a great buy. If I was still into fighters then this would be even more desireable. They should have thrown Eternal Champions on there for the fighters that buy it for Street Fighter.
The way I see it. if it has a savestate feature and supports SD cards then I'll buy this just to have something to dick around with on my bus rides to work and home. and I'm not limited to the pre-set games so Sonic Megamix Genesis Beta is gonna get thrown on there first.
Bet the sound is horrible. Until these portables ever get that right there's no way I'd put the cash down for one. Would feel like paying for an incomplete emulator.
True, the speaker do usually suck. but do these things have headphone jacks or something? Would be alright in my book if I could just listen in some good quality headphones instead of the shitty speaker.
It's not the speaker, the FM emulation is completely borked: the pitch is several tones out, and to make matters worse it doesn't match the PSG at all. As someone who has absolute pitch, it would cause my ears to bleed if I listened to it :P
We've all played our gameboys with the sound off, why not the same here? You can have the tv on and listen to that while playing your favorite game. Edit: Woah, according to amazon it has a sd card slot for roms. How awesome. You could probably put every genesis game on the thing.
Well how bad are we talking here, got a vid you can show Taxman? + - BOY HOW ABOUT THAT MEGAMAN GAME HUH?!
Yeah that is pretty terrible sound emulation, not to say I liked S&K's soundtrack much to begin with. It actually sounds better there imo. Thing is, I can't imagine enjoying that effect with many other games.
Just from my emulation experience, I'd say it's not even worth it. Besides the many problems with these Genesis handhelds, Wily Wars isn't even very good. It suffers from so much slowdown, enemy layout is changed to be annoying, "problems fixed" in Mega Man 1 make it worse, the music is usually worse, and bosses have blinking time, making certain bosses (like Wood Man) way too hard. The Wily Wars version of Mega Man 3 is pretty good though, and I haven't played Wily Tower.
The problem with PSP is it isn't the true sega experience either. It has 4 face buttons not 6. Which would also make playing street fighter 2 tough.
I wonder if it saves. As for the console itself, the hardware isn't anything new. The problem, of course, is that nobody documents its history - AtGames re-release this thing all the time with varying amounts of games, and I wouldn't be surprised if the emulation has had a chance to improve over the last three or four years.
I would - I have a relatively recent model with an SD slot, have played a different model with an SD slot (iirc it was Dreadknux's), and have the original handheld & a few others of the same chip. The system plays fine and by and large the graphical emulation is quite excellent, it's just on the sound that it falls over horribly - and it's the exact same mess on all of them.
Don't these guys have a facebook, twitter, email, or anything you can give your feedback about this? surely if they get enough complaints they will look into this issue they have let go for soo long.
