Well, I've pretty much done most of the music for the game, "that took a lot longer than expected". I've also made a start on importing the tile sets I made.

I made a video which shows a early (not even alpha stage) preview of the hack.

Woah, that's some SMS wizardry we don't see too often here. Music's on point, graphics too. There's a certain ironic joy I get seeing Sonic CD on non-CD based game consoles, and this is no exception.

    That artwork is fucking amazing!

I'm astounded it all fits in the VRAM!

    Life.
Gonna be 'that guy' and say while good, the music all sounds a bit same-y. 8-bit limitations obviously, but it's more-so because all the channels are around the same octave. Sometimes raising or lowering them makes for some great harmonies, especially with SMS music. I'd love to take a stab at it for fun if possible.

Otherwise, yeah, this is looking great!

Aye, I hate to say it, but I agree with Ch1pper.

After being spoilt by Chris Kelly's Collision Chaos cover, it's a bit hard to go back.

Admittedly, I've never been the hugest fan of, say, the music in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (SMS), and I can tell that's the angle you've been going for.

I'm not sure this is the fairest of comparisons, given that that one didn't have to contend with sound effects getting in the way.

From my experience, most Master System (and Game Gear) games all sound the same, and with fewer channels than the NES and none of those fancy expanded carts from Konami or Sunsoft or whoever, it's probably why they invented the FM sound unit :)/>/>

Out of interest, what programs are you using to even MAKE 8bit tunes (I assume the resultant tracks would work on both a Master System and a Game Gear)?

He made his own program if memory serves me correctly. :) He mentioned it previously in the thread.

So he did, I'd completely forgotten about that.

Wow, this is looking really great.

Regarding the music, the only gripe I have with it is that some tracks may me playing a little slower than the originals... or so it seems?
