The only reason people would say it's real is because in the 'Snowball in Hell' likelihood that it were to be legit they could just go 'LOL CALLED IT!!111'
I'm no darn expert on game engines but people have been doing this shit for years so nothing new here
To an extent, I like hoaxes. They're a creative challenge to see how close someone can get to recreating the real thing and make it believable.
Sure, but those belong in the "Creative works" subforum...
Posting a hoax like it's the real deal is just trolling.
It is, but I think it's harmless for a day. It's like a prank... no hard feelings meant. Now if it continues longer than that and the guy doesn't want to give in, then that's when I would put the trolling in the bad category, because nobody likes an attention whore.

The jumping physics are also off- Sonic looks too smooth in his jump, and floats down too nicely and quickly. It smacks of a fan game.
Smooth? The jump physics are complete crap, period. Heck, it even looks like when going down it accelerates at a different rate than when going up.

I wonder if that beta photo's actually just a magazine mock-up like Dust Hill was.
Wasn't there a video showcasing it at some point supposedly in an expo? But then why the hell don't we have a copy of that video yet? (then again how long did it take before drx pointed out certain late prototype footage in some old 1991 video...)

No video, but Naka was shown the two scans we have and said they were from the very first tech demo. (aka not mock ups)
He had wanted to include the tech demo in SMC, but could not find it.
