I think the real question is: what good is a prototype that cannot be played, copied, dumped, or released?

It's nice to have if your hobby is collecting rare or prototype games which is what drx enjoys to do. Some people would probably ask why the heck do I own some jap Super Famicom, and why don't I just get the SNES english versions, and the answer is because that's what I like to collect.

that is different, also, raises the question how he verified that this disc was not a scam against him if no one but the previous owner can access it, though, the answer is probably he was shown it in action by the previous owner :P

You know it's real because it's an RVT disc, and can't be read in a DVD or CD drive.

Yes, this is real, and I remember drx talking about it (see Saz's log above). Though I, too, don't believe a thing I read on April 1, and I also believe April Fools Day is a pointless waste of time for the very reason that you can't.

If it was fake, then what would the point of mentioning it be? "Oh hi I photoshopped a pic of a blank RVT disc and I can't ever play it and just telling you this"

None. Most April Fools are over the top or silly, or bragging. This... it's just a tiny little disc, even if he was (inconceivably) lying.

That said, nice find, too bad we'll probably not see the code inside for 10 years if ever :P
