So Sonic 2 HD's scrapped, right? I mean that whole project's worthless now thanks to this.

I lol'd quite heartily.
I haven't downloaded it yet, but is that lens flare in every level? It looks like it might get painfully annoying after a while...
The filters look pretty cool, though.

The lens flare can be disabled in the video options.

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' bout! Sonic is now finally in true high end HD with modern effects! Man, I wish we could have been able to do that back in the day... Overdone visual effects that get in the way of gameplay, extremely demanding specs that don't really do much, tints of brown added to everything for ultra realism... How did we ever live without that before? Fuck, I don't think I could ever go back to playing the original now.
Modern gaming FTW! FUKKEN X-TREEEEEEEEEEEEEME!!!

I've got an idea that should definitely be in every version of Gens/GS:

Nostalgia filter!
Seriously though, I would really like something like Cheat Engine's "Find out what reads from/writes to/accesses this address" function. That would make hacking so much easier.

First time playing it, I thought it was a joke.
Now I know it is a joke and a damn good one at that, too. Guess you can say that excessive use of brown in a colour palette is what people think is HD. God, this whole ultra realism thing is going to far, even Ireland, with its depressing weather system, has less brown in its colour palette than most modern HD games!
More seriously, the lens flare wasn't cool but the HD Realism filter was. You should keep that filter for future versions of the emulator.

Wow thats depressing. I used it, and did better than when I normally play sonic 2. I had to turn of the lens flare during chemical plant zone though, cos the entire time I thought something bright was just ahead of Sonic, and then I thought Sonic was dead, which made me realize, Sonics been dead for nigh on 10 years!
But actually this is surprisingly fast, once you turn on frame skip that is :P

Call dibs on the Nostalgia filter! It's quite interesting, really!
And yeah, I'm all for the "Find out what reads from/writes to/accesses this address" function idea (even though the split-disassemblies already have most of the addresses/functions comented)
It would be great for creating/comenting split-disassemblies of not-yet-commented disassemblies, as Sonic 3D Blast, other non-Sonic games, etc.

So I'm going to be totally talking out of my ass here (Plus a necropost, but it's so damn worth it)
but damn, the lack of D3D8/9 renderer was a missed opportunity, WE COULD'VE ENBSERIES'D IT

(Stealth's Sonic 1 GBA+VisualBoyAdvance 1.8+ENBSeries for Deus Ex+ENBSeries D3D8 converter)
It's not real HD if it doesn't haveblinding awesome bloom and lack of colors grittiness

Well, Gens/GS II does use an OpenGL backend, and I am planning on adding support for GLSL-based renderers, so there's always that possibility.
