This is Sega Europe. They do things like localise games from Japanese and release them in the UK, Germany, France, Australia, etc.

Oh, did I say localise games? Old hat. Their current job is to say "no information at this time" to any questions on Twitter. Over and over and over again. This is a shame, because SoE used to be the best Sega division, and SoA has rather cheekily stolen this title in the last couple of years.

The only reason I can think of for them doing this (other than just tormenting the audience, and I can't see this as a logical business decision), is that they don't think they'll make any money on a release. That the translation won't get them sales, and that they need some incentive or something.

Right. They want some incentive? Let's bloody GIVE them an incentive! If the only thing they're going to listen to is cold hard cash, I think we can do that.

    Here's the plan:

    1) Get some bank notes, how much a game'd cost in your local currency. This is an SoE focused effort so we're looking at pounds, Euros, Australian or New Zealand dollars (though if any Yanks want to join in, I don't see the harm in a few dollarbux posts either!)

    2) Write the name of a game SoE has yet to make any sort of plans for in Europe, but that already came out in the US, on a sheet of A4 paper in nice readable letters.

    3) Take a photo of these two things and post it on Twitter to @SEGA_Europe, with the hashtag #TakeMyMoneySoE somewhere in the tweet.

I think we'll be most effective if we do one game at a time, and I'm going to crosspost this to a few places. How about we start with a nice simple and obvious one? SEGA 3D Classics Collection. Here's a tweet I made earlier:

    https://twitter.com/Overlord_public/status/721039532293013504

This game would cost £30, €40, or $60AUD? If anyone here's using Krona or Swiss Francs or whatever, please feel free to work out your equivalent amount and hop onboard the money train. Do whatever you want with the notes once you've taken the picture, you don't need to specifically ear-mark it for the relevant game right now - but if it DOES result in them releasing the relevant game, then you'd better be planning on buying it or this only ends up being a one-shot deal and we lose any future power we might have had.

The whole point of this idea is to make Sega Europe realise just how much cash they're losing by constantly refusing to localise anything - and because a lot of the output is for the damn 3DS, we have no way of importing it (alright, yes, homebrew region-ignoring hax, but that carries its own risks). Maybe if they can physically SEE what they're losing, they might bloody DO something about it.

D'oh, in this example, new 3DS games are rrp $60 AUD, so you were right the first time. =P

I don't have any cash on me yet, but I will do this tomorrow. I have constantly tweeted SoA and SoE asking for any information on a PAL/UK/EU release, and I get nothing back.

It's Sega we're talking of... remember that.

Now jokes apart, I can paste this (well, a translation actually) in a Spanish forum which is one if the biggest of the country, I'll get it on afternoon.

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
I like the idea, generally (wonder if this could entail Atlus titles, too, given the close, symbiotic relationship between the two companies), but, I ain't gonna sign up on Twitter JUST for that. :v

Please do! The more people we get doing this, the better.

I hope more people join in with this, as nothing talks more than cold, hard, cash.

Spoilers: "Sega Europe", not "Sega of Europe" :eng101:

It's odd not to have a confirmation date for Sega 3D Classics Collection, but there's not much else out there? Sega don't really do non-mobile games anymore.

Yeah, I know, but SE on the tag makes it look like Special/Standard Edition. =P

Sega Europe have done an initial response to the campaign but it's very much along the lines of what they've been doing already, so we're continuing straight ahead.

SEGA Europe has responded on Twitter:

Not really a confirmation of that the games will be released in Europe, but they are looking into it and are listening. So all the more reason to continue this campaign.

Sorry for the late, it's done. Stayed the most loyal to your post that I could, except for some things that I didn't understand pretty well aparently. What is the difference between localising and translating?

Localisation means that they're adapting a game from one country for another country, which involves translating but also means that they're making sure the game is suitable for the country it's being localised for. Translating would mean that they're just changing it from one language to another.

For example: the Ace Attorney anime officially has two sets of English subtitles you can use. One is just a translation from Japanese to English. The second is the same as the first, except they changed all of the Japanese names to English ones. Like Ry?ichi Naruhod? is changed to Phoenix Wright. That's localisation.

I featured campaign on the old Sonic 3 Remastered social media channels. Even though that campaign is no longer active, it still gets around 250 hits a day, so even though it is small, hopefully it will be of some help.

Just got back from an overnight job for work - seeing how many sites internationally this is beginning to hit is fantastic.
