SMB: The Second Quest A SMB1 hack

Alrighty, this is a SMB1 hack I put lots of work into, and I hope you all like it!

What's new?
-New graphics
-New text
-Insane level layouts

Hmm...

(the title in Acmlm's are garbled in the GoodNES set for some reason.)

In any case, your first level is impossible. The spring-jump-over-the-huge-wall failed to work even after several hundred tries at varying speeds and timings; the closest I ould get was one block away.

This is unacceptable.

Unacceptable? Try holding down B, stand right next to the trampoline, keep holding B, and simply jump onto the trampoline. (Did I mention hold B?) You'll get a friggin'-huge mega jump.

And you also realize that the majority of those graphics come from later Mario games, right?

I played it all now, borrowing warp zones.

"requiring" (at least, as I saw it) the "minus world" trick to get to the first warp zone sets a bad enough tone for the rest of the hack.

Playing 4-2, I did little except go "Let me guess, the mushroom's in the same spot, as is the vine..." and it was.

Most of this hack is just annoying "remove the floor and make an annoying nonstop jumping puzzle" and "one miss and it's over" segments... this hack isn't really fun to play; more annoying.

8-4 ends in an area aparrnetly requiring you to slide under the wall to get past it. I couldn't find a hidden powerup block anywhere, so if I didn't already have a mushroom...

Your great testing skills really showed up at the end of 8-4:

So your game is unbeatable... I also had to abuse plenty of glitches to get past segments of it, such as walljumping.

Don't come at me with "I suck at testing." I've tested the whole damn game through. Unfortunately for me, altering one damn thing seems to screw up something that's working perfectly, and thusly have NOT tested it out yet.

Warp Zone impossible to reach without using the Minus World trick? Untrue, you just can't jump.

Yeah, I don't yet have experience with changing pipe and vine pointers, hence why they stay where they are. For now. (?)

I do realise some of the level layouts suck. Yet most are totally original. I often look at the sucky ones, and alter them when I get inspiration.

No mushroom in 8-4 to get past the wall? Look harder...pfft.
