Hello, everyone! :) Recently, a script for Sonic Heroes has appeared online for auction and Windii and I both think that it would be very beneficial to the Sonic community if we were able to acquire it. There could be a lot of interesting differences within the script such as unused dialogue, ideas, and concepts not present within the final game that could also give us some valuable insight and details during the development phase. We both feel that this is a very important piece of Sonic's history that should be archived and preserved. However, the only problem that is preventing us from obtaining the script at the moment is simply the fact that the script is very expensive. The seller of the script wants 500,000 Japanese Yen which is equivalent to around $4,400 dollars!

Windii is very determined to get a hold of these scripts and has the ability to bid on Japanese auction sites. It is merely the expenses that is the only issue here. She has set up a "Sonic Heroes script Crowdfunding" goal on her Ko-fi to keep track of any donated funds for the scripts. You can access her Ko-fi to make a donation by clicking right here. Any type of donation will be of great help to our goal and is very much appreciated. If enough people from the Sonic community are willing to help out then it may be possible to reach our goal in acquiring this very rare and important piece of Sonic's developmental history! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this thread and extra thanks to anyone who may be able to help! :)

It's probably going to be next to impossible to drum up enough people to collect over 4k for a Sonic Heroes script I think. Not even some prototypes like the Nick Arcade Sonic 2 costed that much. I don't see any bids yet on it yet, and it will probably stay that way at that price.

Hopefully the seller drops the price as time goes on since that's just exorbitant.

The high price is kind of an advantage since that gives plenty of time. And I wanna make it happen, however long it takes.

Honestly, this is way over market value for what it is--a common problem. Hopefully the seller will take this back down to a reasonable level and no one will buy it at that price (which causes people to continue to think items like this are worth that amount).

What would be your plans if you got it? Full, high quality scans from cover to cover? Because that's what we'd want. And my gut feeling is you won't want to cut up a $4,000 book into bits.

I reckon you'd get more Sonic Heroes knowledge by picking up every 2003/2004 issue of Famitsu. And it would cost a fraction of the price.

This isn't worth $4400. Besides, two things stick out to me - That's the starting bid price, so it could hypothetically go even higher. Secondly, depending on what you're using to bid on it, service fees and shipping can up the cost that much more no matter what.

As it is right now, it's not worth the effort to me.

I agree with the others regarding the pricing -- regardless of potential content, I believe it's severely overpriced as it currently stands. If it were to drop to a more "normal" level for this type of item, I wouldn't mind providing the financing for all or part of the purchase, but the currently-requested level of funds would be better used to acquire actual prototypes.

In this category, I believe that pre-production scripts for Adventure would likely garner the highest level of community interest... but even then, not for $4k.

Is there a link to the auction or the person who is auctioning it? Is there any proof that this exists? I haven't been able to find anything by googling. Sorry if this is a stupid question and I just missed something obvious.

It exists at the price mentioned.

But posting the link jepodises the whole "trying to win the auction" thing, so you'll have to have faith~

Has anyone contacted the seller? YJA has an option to ask a question so maybe it will be a good idea to ask if he's willing to go down on the price.

Sellers usually go for it once their auction has ended a couple of times since they get desperate.

Yea I don't see this script being sold anytime soon at this price. Maybe windii or someone can talk the seller down in price.

I looked at the seller's description and no, they don't accept price negotiations. So one can only hope they will lower the price on their own accord.

And just to be clear, I myself will look to getting enough money to get it, however long that will take. The Ko-fi goal is mostly a supplementary thing for anyone who wants to help a little. Also I know exactly what the payment and service fee is going to be because the proxy service I'm using conveniently lists those out before a bid is placed. I'll also make sure to use the EMS option for shipping so there's no worries about the package getting lost or something.

I honestly think this script is worth like $5. Best of luck though.

I just don't get why would the script from a not-so-good Sonic game be worth more than (probably) all of the actual prototypes combined...

I mean, if it was an actual prototype, maybe it would be kind of interesting, but a script prototype ?
And for Sonic Heroes, the 3D Sonic game with the least involved plot ? I just don't see us getting any kind of cool development info with a script from this game.

also, 500 000 yens? That's like a used car, there's not way any kind of script would be worth that much, let alone Sonic Heroes
