I think the only thing available for Linux at this time is a hex editor.

You could try running your windows hacking tools in Wine (http://www.winehq.com/) or in VMWare (http://www.vmware.com/ <-PAYWARE)
Well done for trying Linux, I used it for about 4->6months continuosly before going back to Windows :$

Which obviously makes it the perfect choice for me. :D Nonetheless, I may have to poke some people with red-hot pokers to get them to write some utilities. Hell, if I get desperate I'LL learn C++ and write them myself!
