Yeah that art style looks very similar to the Sonic Colours and Sonic Unleashed Japanese Mangas that were released.
Damn, dat EGG, man. I'm incredibly intrigued by the changes Eggman's gone through. The one on the left brings to my mind images of SatAM Robotnik. Mostly 'cause of the head; and what looks to resemble a sort of cyber-arm too, methinks. Could just be armor/gear covering it though.
Wow. That's... different. It's like a combination of numerous Robotinks, but at the same time something completeley different. That arm reminds me of Mass Effect or Bionic Commando for some reason.
Picked Up two full sets of Topps Sonic the Hedgehog Trading Cards at SoS 2011. These stood out for me, particularly that Sonic 2 behind shot. A lot of the screens seem to be from Beta Versions (Side Piston Spikes) The Sonic 2 Logo Card is from the Beta also. But doesn't look like there is anything we haven't seen before. Might Scan the whole lot at some point, if anyone has interest...
I've had to scan in a bunch of trading cards before. I know it's a pain in the ass, but I'd love to see more of these.
That Sonic 2 back shot... Whoa. Awesome. I'll always have a soft spot for ass-face Sonic, so seeing new art of him is great. It amazes me that we're STILL discovering new images of classic Sonic. I mean, that must have been made over 15 years ago, and released publicly, right? How is it just showing up on the net now?
I think I've seen the Sonic 2 one on a wall at SEGA during a video interview or something. Maybe in Ken Balough's working quarters or somewhere like that.
I recall seeing that Sonic 2 artwork in a magazine long, long ago. Can't remember exactly when or what magazine it was, though.
I have an old Christmas Tree decoration of Sonic, it's his S1 art with a Santa hat on, a sack in one hand and a Christmas Pudding in the other. It's a bit ripped because it's been in a cupboard for years. I'll have to scan it later.
<a href="http://info.sonicretro.org/Game_Preview_-_Sonic_the_Hedgehog_2_(Sega_Visions,_September_1992)" target="_blank">It was the cover of the Sega Visions issue with the infamous Yuji interview.</a>
Here's that Sonic the Comic Christmas decoration ultima espio was talking about. Sonic The Comic had some pretty nice artwork in it at times. Here's the Chaotix: I got these from the illustrator's portfolio, so they're watermarked. Here's some of my other favorite, but more obscure, artworks:
This one is great, I think. Probably the best piece of art in the post save for extreme pink Derp Knuckles.
Here's some really old artwork which I dug up from ancient fan-sites. Another constipated Knuckles. American artists just couldn't draw him right, for some reason. Did somebody order fast food? This appeared on SEGA's webpage. Were they trying to decorate for Halloween and Christmas at the same time?
Hey, that's the Sonic & Tails picture that was scanned and used as the title screen for that "Sonic 4" SNES Speedy Gonzales hack.
