So at a tag sale today I found an Atari Flashback and an AtGames Genesis. I bought 'em and the seller tossed in a few Genesis carts he had, so that was cool. I tested the Flashback with good results. But the AG Genesis, whose reputation alone makes grown men cry, refused to work. I turn the power on and the screen is a blank black. Resetting it results in a putrid green screen, reminiscent of an old flashing NES that refuses to load carts. So I'm wondering if anyone knows what would cause an issue like this? I'll begrudgingly assume the thing is busted, and I'm somewhat disappointed I couldn't experience the cancerous nature of this piece of garbage firsthand. :v:

I would try first with different AV cable than the one provided with the console - I'm guessing that trying with different AC adapter is not relevant in this case (since console is turning on). If not - check the AV slots and be sure that you've connected everything properly on "both sides" (I know it sounds terrible trivial, but I had once similar "issue" with different console and the reason was, that AV cable wasn't connected properly). And if you want*, maybe try it on different TV (preferably some "older" model).

If it's something inside, I doubt that it'll be worth to repair (if it's even possible - those cheap SOC consoles are not leaving too much to do in this aspect).

*I don't know how much effort would you like to put to check if it's working - I'm guessing that not too much, it's AtGames after all :P)

Sorry to sorta-hijack this thread, but it's mostly relevant: I have one of the handheld AtGames joints, the one that displays FIRECORE at the title screen, and I was wondering if there's any way whatsoever to improve the sound further? I have one of the menuforced_2010 something or another ROM files that does improve the sound somewhat, but sampled sounds (like the SEGA logo and the little MJ barks in Sonic 3's music) are still too high pitched, and the rest of the actual music is generally too low-pitched, and really badly overdriven to boot. Can that be fixed at all with further software mods or would I have to crack the thing open? Not sure it's worth that much effort, honestly...

Hijack away; I stared at my system some more and then tossed it in the trash. Keeping the controllers 'cause they work with the Atari Flashback. Curse those worn out right-handed joysticks it comes with.

This is why Sega need to do a NES classic and release some official shit. Yes I know the licence is official but we could really do with the real thing.

Aren't they releasing an HD SEGA MegaDrive with rewind play and a cart slot and improved emulation and sound?
