Simon,

I wasn't sure where this post should belong, so please except my appolgies if this has been placed inappropriatly.

Hey guys,

We're working on a team demo project for the Sega Megadrive. The official thread is here:

http://www.sega-devega.net/board/read.php?f=1&I=1909&t=1909

Basically, the idea is to have each individual (or team!) develop a working (must work on the real hardware) 256k binary, which will be called up from the main demo frame. This is a team effort, with different communities accross the Megadrive scene taking part.

There aren't any rules or guidelines as such yet. If you want to take part, either as a programmer, an artist, a musician or anything else, then please register your interest on my thread (at Devega - where all the others have too). If you have any questions, post them there too.

It would be great to have a submission for the Sonic hacking scene.

Well, I'm a graphic art designer and musician (taking two band classes, was in a band, play piano, etc.)

If you guys need any ideas, I'm here.

[see avatars and such for my graphic art, though those are simple turd jobs anyways.] My website has a mountain scenery which I made up one day. Nice lighting effects.

You guys should join the official thread and give forwards some ideas if you want.

You could make a Sonic demo, which could then be included. How the demo works, what it does and what it looks like is completly up to you guys, so long as it's reasonable - and within 256k.

Whatever you do, don't start coding until we've written the demo frame, as there will be a few limitations and such. But by all means, do start thinking about your submission.

One more thing, I've decided that demos will be ordered (in the main ROM) by the order that they were submitted - if you submit your demo first, it'll be the first thing the user sees, after the main screen.

Any questions/concerns, post them on my Devega thread.

Will the demos be tested on real hardware at the end of the contest? Cause LocalH has that capability, and if he helps, we would be able to test if it works as we go along. I'm not putting this idea forward, just out there. =P

I will later provide a "test-harness" that you can use to include and run your demo. Sort of like the final thing, but with just one entry. If it works in this on the real hardware, then it'll be included.

Okay, Yuski that would be great. Please state your interest on my thread on the Devega message boards:

http://www.sega-devega.net

There was some discussion earlier about how to do the graphics, and your input would be greatly appreciated.

This goes for the rest of you who have said you're interested. You NEED to state your interest on the Devega thread.
