I'm looking into buying new laptops for my brother (going to college this fall) and my sister (moving out of state). Currently I'm looking at the ThinkPad X260 series, with the following options:

    • Intel Core i5-6200U (2 cores, 4 threads, 3MB cache, 2.3 GHz base, 2.8 GHz turbo)
    • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    • 12.5" 1920x1080 IPS display
    • 4 GB DDR4-2133 SODIMM
    • Backlit keyboard option (ThinkLight is long gone)
    • Fingerprint reader (because why not)
    • "720p" camera
    • 500 GB 7200rpm HDD
    • 3-cell internal battery, 6-cell external battery
    • Intel dual-band 8260AC wireless with Bluetooth 4.1
The X260 doesn't have a dedicated GPU option, which isn't an issue because neither of them are huge gamers. The more important aspect is battery life, which is rated at over 17hr with both internal and external batteries.

Total price for the system itself: $838.08 (as of this posting)

Memory will be upgraded to 16 GB from Amazon (~$52), and the HDD will be replaced with a 250 GB Crucial MX200 SSD (~$80).

    Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?
