Buyatari's Sonic Art Pics

  1. Forgot all about this one.

I'm not sure who the artist is.

It hung on the walls of Sega until they discarded it. Lucky for me someone saved it from the trash because they liked the frame.

They would rotate images every now and then but keep the same frames.
This particular piece was glued to back of a print advertisement. Lucky that it wasn't the other way around.
I bought several "frames" from the seller and one of the prints that I bought had an undamaged original Mr Bones behind it.

In this picture you can see the back of the original artwork and the front of the printed advertisement.

  2. This isn't original artwork but I thought you guys might enjoy seeing this. This was a post card that Greg had made up to promote himself as an artist. This one was nevertheless used and was instead attached to the back of one of Greg's paintings.

  3. 4 more Greg Martin pieces.
Better pictures of 2 Knuckles images and 2 others that I haven't posted before.
The ruler on the top and right hand side will give you an idea of size. Greg had these shrinkwrapped before taking them to trade shows.
He would write down the price on little Flintstones post it notes. You can see one piece is priced at $225.00
One has to wonder what happened to the pieces that he did sell at these shows and if we will ever see them again.

    Working on my art!
Oh weird it's like a prototype Sonic 2 box art. Very neat find! The Spinball one is cool too.

Sonic Pinball - that must be quite early art. That Robotnik roobt with the pincers is pretty weird. An early version of the Scorpius boss, perhaps?

    What's with the four-digit hands?
Is it like that on all proto artwork?

Barring the mechanical boss thingy, that Spinball cover makes so much more sense than the final "Sonic on rails with spherical feet" one.

Those sketches are really interesting! I wonder why Sega opted to go with a more generic design for the S2 box art?

Do those Buzzers have searchlights on their chests? Is there smoke coming out of a fire or something in the background?

Sonic has the same crooked legs from the final S2 and S3 box arts. I've always wondered what was the deal with them. I guess American Sonic is just bow-legged :v:

  10. Another one I may not have posted here before.

  11. Can anyone tell me what this image was used for.
I suspect it is a magazine cover.

That would be the artwork for the Pocket Arcade 'Sonic Blast'.
