Spanish Sonic fansite Sonic Paradise recently posted this interesting bit of news, which I crudely translated here:

QUOTE
As I announced yesterday, Sega officially came to Mexico with great fanfare, and the Community Manager was very excited about the arrival of the company's blue hedgehog. Thus, on the same day, he set up a live web text chat to chat with other fans on the topic of the day: the anniversary of 20 years of Sonic. He was kind enough to answer user questions and discuss the history of the blue hedgehog. Our correspondent also attended the conversation, and noticed some factual details that the Community Manager of Sega was implying, and apparently, he suggested too.

Without going any further, he explicitly mentioned in the chat that there are sequels to the Storybook Series and the Superstars Series (referred to by him as Sonic and Sega, which apparently is now the final name). On these issues, he gave no further details.

We also asked if the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Sonic Generations had bonus stages, at least for Classic Sonic, and that "there could be bonus classic Sonic levels".

However, the most interesting comment came when a user in the chat room mentioned that Tails should have his own game, when out of nowhere, completely out of context, the official wrote the following sentence:

"Something like a Sonic Adventure 3 ... DS?. I mean, it's a good idea"

Obviously this could have been nothing more than a personal opinion, however, the fact that it was spoken completely out of context calls attention to what was said.

I hope that means Super Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing with Banjo-Kazooie 2 Turbo HD Remix While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood is a reality.

So much for throttling the blue hog's exposure.

Oh well at least we might get more Classic Content...

A Sonic Adventure game for 3DS? Yeah, I guess I could get behind that. They'd have to put a lot more effort behind it than they have Generations 3DS, though.

Sorybook series, though, they need to let die. It was an experiment that more or less helped pave the way to the Unleashed formula, which is immensely better. Now that they've found a good direction they don't need this series anymore. I'll be curious to find out what ancient piece of literature or legend the butcher borrow from this time.

And heck yes, Generations DLC. Ice Cap, Lava Reef and Quartz Quadrant, pretty please.

Sonic Adventure 3DS would be pretty nice. It would be nice to have a proper 3D Sonic game like the first two Adventure games again, bring back the Chao Garden too please.

DLC for Generations was a given as soon as they revealed Casino Night for the console versions. We're probably going to get A LOT of it.

Why not just call it Sega All-Stars? That should be inclusive enough of Sonic the Hedgehog and all his friends. Then it would be a game I'm not embarrassed to play with friends.

A Sonic Adventure game for the 3DS has certainly been something I have been hoping for since the system was revealed. Of course, if it was a new game, I would much rather have it modeled after the first game rather than the second. However, Sega sure does enjoy making ports and collections as well, so it could have even possibility of being a remake.

Of course, I am disappointed if they are going to continue the Storybook series. While I enjoyed Secret Rings, Black Knight was horrid, and the team did much better with Colors than either of the two. Hell, I feel they surpassed the Unleashed HD team as well in terms of gameplay. I'd rather both the Unleashed and Colors teams just make games that built on top of the other's achievements.

Please, no more remakes. I love my 3DS but OoT and Starfox are the only remakes the system needs.

I think the title is less about being accurate to the content of the game and more that a game with "Sonic" in the title is easier to sell...apparently even if the resulting name is incredibly clunky.

Though I didn't address it, I certainly hope there's a Sonic Adventure 3DS, but I'm afraid to speculate and get my hopes up about it.

If they just want to remake SA1, I guess I'd be fine with that too, as long as it's not another quick half-baked port of DX.

I wouldn't mind a Sonic Adventure remake as long as it's done right. Just fix the technical problems and I'll be sold.

Hey, I never said I'd like it if it was a remake. v.png
But if the Storybook series is continuing, then I assume the Colors team is working on that. I presume that if this Adventure 3DS is in fact a reality (and it isn't a port), then who is making it? Dimps is working on Generations 3DS and the Unleashed team is working on Generations for the HD systems. Perhaps it could be a completely different team altogether?

EDIT: If they could improve the graphical quality of Adventure and added a substantial number of new levels, I would seriously consider getting a remake. If those two criteria aren't met, then it's no sale for me.

I just hope to God that if they port SA1, they either direct-port the Dreamcast version without even going near SADX.. or if they really just have to use SADX, then they at least give the game better character models and fix many of the bugs that have appeared gradually throughout it's constant destruction via port-of-a-port-of-a-port-of-a-port-of-a-port. And at least more bugfixes for things that have been there since the original. I'm not gonna buy another variation of SA1 if they don't at least put some effort into fixing some of the collision problems. colbert.png

If it's a 3DS title of a possible Sonic Adventure 3 (hence the pun "Sonic Adventure 3DS"), then I hope it takes more pages from the upcoming stuff in Generations than both SA1 or SA2; if these sounds of multiple playable characters and the shown layout to City Escape are anything to go off of.
