Quick enemy idea for Blue Mountain Zone. The volcano enemy would pop out of the lava, and shoot fiery rocks at you, the ice enemy would drop down from ceilings (assuming there's some sort of ice cave bit in it).

One day I dreamt (not literally) up an idea for a special stage, in case I ever made a Sonic game. Here's how it works:

    In writing:

    1. Sonic gets 50 rings while going through the stage. Once he does, if he jumps in the air and presses the jump button again, he'll do a flip and jump off the side of the stage to land on the Tornado, flown by Tails (if playing as Tails or Knuckles, Sonic flies the Tornado.)
    2. The Tornado rises into the air to Part One of the Special Stage (if the special stages had names, they'd consist of the first word in the name of the corresponding stage plus "sky", so "Canadian Sky" and "Tropical Sky".) which works similarly to the special stage in Sonic Advance 3. If he fails here, an engine on the Tornado bursts and Sonic jumps off the falling plane back into the stage.
    3. If Sonic gets enough rings on Part 1, the Tornado lowers out of the sky and Sonic jumps off, and begins to run along the land. This is part two, which works similarly to a combination of the Sonic Advance 2 special stage (without turning around) and the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 special stage (without the tube walls, but with strange hills and turns). Sonic will have to dodge things like enemies and holes.
    4. (not in the picture) If Sonic gets enough rings on Part 2, he gets to the edge of a cliff where he finds the emerald and the stage ends. If he fails to get enough rings, he fails to stop in time and falls off the cliff, back into the normal stage.

Is it any good, cause if it is, you can use it.

Not a bad Special Stage concept. I thought of some concepts, too.

Introducing the Circus Zone boss idea:
    [IMG][IMG]
The Platforms would cycle around the big clown head, while the clown Head shot at you with turrest from below and possibly either laser eyes or a hidden nose cannon from above. Meanwhile, an infinite suplly of badniks would provide additional nussaince as they appear(floating ones or bouncey ones seem apropriate.). The Eyes would be the cockpits, four hits for each eye. Or the Nose could be the weak spot if we wanted to free the eyes for a lazer.

And heres a concept I originally made for my Sonic RPG: Sound Barriers!

These would block the way. There would be a conver belt attached though. If Sonic ran at full speed on the belt long enough, he'd break both the belt and the sound barrier, leting him move on.

I've got a brilliant idea for the final boss.

Well you know how Robotnik has made mechanical hedgehogs to try and defeat Sonic, even though they all failed? Well I got this idea. Sonic chases Robotnik to his hidden room. With nowhere to run, he starts up this machine. He jumps into it, and a cloud of smoke appears. Out from the smoke is Robotnik, but he transformed into a hedgehog! So for the match, you fight Robotnik in his hedgehog form. He has all the moves Sonic does, and a few other ones.

    What do you guys think?

Sounds like a bad fanfic to me.

Really, we already have Metal Sonic. And we have a lot of freedom to turn that into awesome. I personally would love to fight the Metal Sonic that was shown in Sonic Heroes, y'know, before he turned into a Metal Dragon. I thought that Metal had a lot of potential, but they just failed to use it.

Also, Might I suggest A Choose Your Team ability? We've had Sonic and Tails, and Knuckles and Tails(Sonic II Delta, I believe), but I'd like to see a bit more variation on that. I love S3K the most because of the ability to play with friends, and I still do pretty often. Of course, You could always go solo, as well.

I was thinking that the final boss would go like in Chaotix; big fight with Metal Sonic, then final fight with Robotnik.

The reason Robotnik would do this is because a hedgehog has been defeating his most elite machines for years, so he got the idea to beat Sonic at his own game. Of course, after he's defeated, he transforms back to normal.

But I see what you mean about Metal Sonic. How about this; Hedgehog Robotnik & Metal Sonic vs Sonic.

I just don't see it as a good idea. A supersonic hedgehog has been rolling into a nearly indestructible ball and thrashing metallic animals, so in order to counter it, you turn yourself into a substandard fan character with an uncharacteristic like mustache and partner up with a metal doppleganger of your enemy, while your a more fleshy version of him.

Can you not see the fail in that? Besides, there is no good reason for Robotnik to leave to relative safety of his Eggmobile in order to face Sonic head on in an inexperienced body. For an end boss, it has to be something quick and deadly, and above all, metal.

Although, I will say an interesting thing would be, after decimating his last robot, Robotnik stands up and puts up his dukes. One hop on his head to finish him, but It'd be hilarious. It's a funny little concept that I pulled from Gunstar Heroes, when Black throws the exploding fake gem.

Fine, then how about he fights him in a robotic Sonic suit.

That desperate idea actually isn't that bad, if you mull over it. I mean, if done right, I could easily see Eggman running around in a Giant Metal Sonic Suit, along the size of the Final Boss from Sonic 2... I'd have to admit, if we somehow worked it out like that, it'd be freakin' epic.

Not sure if you want concepts for new Zones, but...

Midnight Palace Zone. It's a haunted castle in the dead of night. I am aware my spriting leaves something to be desired, but hopefully you get the gist of it.

I've always found accidentally collecting another shield while already being in possession of another pointless or annoying (whether it was the same type of shield or another, respectively), regardless of whether it happened in the act or a special stage (though the latter is more annoying.)

To get to the point of this post, would it be possible and, if so, not too hard to somehow implement double shields? That is to say, would it be doable to make collecting a second shield after the first give you either an improved version of the shield or a shield which is a fusion of two types of shields, depending on whether you got the same shield again or a shield of another kind. Somewhat like Gunstar Heroes or Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

Also, the implementation of the regular old blue/gray shield would be cool. The special ability it would grant you would be to minutely extend the range of the Insta-Shield, and perhaps make it last slightly longer. A Double-Neutral Shield would improve upon these attributes more so. Other combinations would be that: with the Electric Shield you have a sky blue or cerulean colored Neutral Shield which lets you perform a double-jump which goes higher than the Electric Shield's double jump allows you to go (like Sonic's mid-air second jump in Sonic R,) or allows you to perform up to two extra jumps (rather than the regular one with the Electric Shield) -- though I think this latter idea would work better for a Double-Electric Shield; with the Fire Shield you would have a red-orange or bittersweet colored Neutral Shield which lets you perform a Homing Attack; with the Bubble Shield you would have white or light gray colored Neutral Shield which either bounces you down to the ground and all the way back up to the height you were previously at (but allowing you to move forward a little less restrictedly than the Bubble Shield allows) or -- when in an enemy is nearby and somewhere below you -- home in on an enemy (much like how the Gold Shield does in Sonic 3D) and bounce back up again; and so on.

Anyway, that's my two cents. If you like the idea (or portion of it) and it is doable, please incorporate somehow. If not, then don't. Regardless, I'm just trying to be helpful, so even if you're intensely annoyed by the suggestion, I'd gladly shut up. =)

P.S. Sorry for being a little long-winded in this post.

This would absolutely rock. Considering that Robotnik's in like a Metalsonic factory, it would make complete sense that there be a giant robot like that. Robotnik's ship of course would have to take the belly.

It would attack somewhere in-between Ristar, the Sonic 3 final boss, and the Chaotix final boss: Metalsonic's hands can grab Sonic and smack him down when he gets too close, he can fire a laser beam from his belly or his eyes, and he can extend his arms to grab Sonic if he doesn't keep moving. It would be kinda cool if he could also fire missiles and bombs but that might be too much.

After 6-8 hits in a stationary arena, the battle gets moving like with the S&K final boss, and Sonic has to hit Robotnik's ship while dodging all of his attacks.

Maybe there can be ghosts in the underground stage, but we should probably come up with a new design for them.

...Or we could make a cavern zone, dark, eerie, the perfect setting for ghosts. We could call it "Lost Cavern Zone" or somethign.

    Idea for zone structure:

    Zone 1 -> Zone 2 - High Path and Middle Path -> Zone 3 - High and Middle Path -> Zone 7 -> Zone 9 -> Zone 10 - All Paths -> Zone 11
    Zone 2 - Low Path -> Zone 4 -> Zone 5 -> Zone 6 - Zone 3 Low path and Zone 6 High Path -> Zone 8 - All Paths -> Zone 11

To understand it better, think of having the game split into two different paths, each with the same amount of zones using the six zone structure we have, we can have it split off into the second set of zones from the second zone, so both of them share a first zone, and both then lead into the same final zone.

  18. A way to make that simpler is to have a map screen type thing. Sort of like S1 SMS, but more detailed.

  19. Yes, we talked about this on the old forums.

I definitely think there should be a world map in this game. A natural "upgrade" to the series that you could expect to come out of a "Sonic 4". This way, you can see the levels that you've been to, but also see the areas you haven't. It would illustrate the whole "split level path" mechanic a whole lot better.

The ability to go back and play zones would be a wonderful improvement, and help the player to play all the zones in one play through, or to zip through faster if he wanted to. I'd love to see such an idea implemented.

Didn't that old Sonic Crackers ROM have a world map of some sort that two players could basically run around in in? I can't remember too well, but I know there was one, even though you couldn't actually do anything in it.
