Ocean Palace, Sonic Heroes. Manages to conjure up the same upbeat feelings I'd have waking up Saturday mornings around 1996 and playing Sonic CD or Sonic 3D, both of which had nice music. Only song to really do it in the modern games except Cool Edge day, which feels oddly empty.
Panic Puppet, 3D Blast Saturn. I love chromaticism. The piano bit in Act 1 is also divine.

Sonic 2 Regular Boss Music.
The tune is forged in my brain.
Sonic 2 Death Egg Zone.
The crazy clown tune is epic and a shame it lasted only 1 corridor.

Well, Lava Reef Zone, Act 2 (Hidden Palace), and Sandopolis Zone, Act 2.
Lava Reef 2 is mystical.. it gives that feeling that you're in a magic place. Allough it was used in Hidden Palace too, where it should be, Lava Reef 2 should have got a more upbeat song. Hidden Palace with this song just does it for me. Sandopolis 2 is a very heavy song, and heavy songs are my favourites. Just listen to the percussion and bass-line <3

How can you possibly ask that?
I guess I could just go with 2 of my current favorites, but picking 2 all-time favorites would take an act of God.
One of my current favorites is actually a remix of the Sonic CD theme song, "You Can Do Anything (extended remix)" or something like that. If I remember correctly, someone here at Sonic Retro made it, right? Well incase remixes don't count, the original is awesome too.
There are also 3 Sonic Unleashed daytime stage songs that are hard to pick from but I'm gonna go with "Dragon Road Daytime". (I think that's what it's called)

Hydrocity and Flying Battery, second Acts. Both songs have a pretty wide musical range, and go with their respective Zones almost flawlessly.
I also really enjoy the Project Chaos versions of both songs, Walk(ing?) on Water and Dead Batteries.

Hydrocity Zone Act 1, tone 2's (in_vgm, don't know the actual name for it) bass sound is just sex.
Star Light Zone, this song was my favorite growing up. It gives me those weird happy feelings that make you shiver and your eyes puff up. Kind of like near crying...

Ice Cap Zone - It's just so catchy. The plinkity-plinkity synths are so pleasing to the ear. MJs "Who Is It" is a corker too.
Hidden Palace Zone (Sonic 2) - Sounds so mystic. Very fitting for this zone. Unusual percussion. Nice combination. One of many tracks you strive to hear in full orchestral equivalence.

Springyard was always fun for me. I guess Super Sonic racing is the 2nd track I enjoyed the most.

My first reaction to this thread?
Two songs? FUCK YOU!
But then I sat and thought about it. And thought.
It was tricky since Sonic's music is almost universally great, but I eventually settled on two tracks that are both highlights of less-than-spectacular games.
Sonic Spinball - Lava Powerhouse
With an underlying bassline that chugs like steam-powered machinery, this tune is perfect for the intended setting of the level, and the opening chords resonate with that kind of comedy-dastardliness that one would only ever get in a cartoon; great, since this game was partially based on the SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog. But beneath it all there's that unmistakable sound of a PSG arpeggio chiming along, so unashamedly lo-tech. This is a videogame cartoon, no mistake about it. A tune that is so perfectly unashamed of what it is, and catchy to boot.
Sonic '06 - White Acropolis (Snowy Peak)
Kicks in with a rave synth that echoes the Sonic CD (JP) bad future tunes, this game was indeed a dark moment in the Sonic franchise, but with a typically catchy soundtrack -- the techno beats are all present and correct here, this is unashamedly a track in the vein of all the best Sonic tunes; and that same old lo-fi sound kicks in with the echoey main refrain. Seriously, this tune is a gem in an otherwise rotten field of old fecal matter.
Seriously, I fucking LOVE these two tracks.

Well, the obvious choice for me is Chemical Plant Zone. It was the first song in a video game I really noticed, and the choice of voices in this track really defines what Genesis music was all about. The intense electronic funk sound combined with the assault of ring sounds, speed boost noises, and exploding inherent in the fast level is always what I think of when someone mentions Sonic.
I also love the SA1 version of It Doesn't Matter, but that's probably for more sentimental reasons.

Knuckles Chaotix: Door Into Summer
This says to me "I'm going on a kick ass adventure and its all good!" This is one of the best tracks I have heard from the Sonic series. Upbeat, bouncy, and the dips and dives in the song say there will be bumps and hills, but its gonna be all right!Sonic 3: Endless Mine Zone
This song just takes me back to when I was playing this on my Genesis, and to a simpler time. It almost always makes me shed a tear of happiness. So soothing, gentle, and yet still Sonic!

My favorite Sonic songs change every week (seriously, there's so many good ones
But this week, it's
Stardust Speedway - Present - JP/EUR version - Sonic CD
Kick-ass catchy song. 'Nuff said. Still need to play the game though.
Skyscraper Scamper - Day - Sonic Unleashed
What can I say? I love brass instruments.
