Just to clarify, since I didn't pick a side in my previous post while presenting the options, I'm ok with the spoilers. Of course I don't want to see a full playthrough before the game is released, but what we've seen so far isn't excessive at all.

    re: spoilers

You know, some other forums about other things (e.g. TV shows) sometimes have two separate discussions, one with spoilers and behind-the-scenes content, and another one without. It should have been suggested 297 pages ago, though.

It somehow reminds me of Sleeping Egg Zone (Sonic Chaos) with a pinch of Aqua Lake Zone (Sonic 2), I think it clearly has a strong 8-bit feel (jubbalub's guess isn't that off, either), so I'll just keep my fingers crossed even if they said "no 8-bit". If ICEknight is right and that's indeed a Train Station Zone I can only hope it will lead to the train from Sunset Park Zone, too. In that case, even if I hate Steam with all of myself, I might even consider installing it.
  4. In Topic: Rant Mode: WHY do we have so many damn formats for SEGA Megadrive/Gen

    18 May 2017 - 12:50 PM

.gen files are actually the same as .bin files internally, just with a different extension to differentiate them from other kinds of roms (like .sms and .gg are still binary files internally), since a .bin file can be anything at all per se. Not that I justify the .gen extension, I still prefer .bin, but that is the explanation you asked for. No clue about .md instead, I've never seen it, but it's probably just another binary file in a wig, so .smd is probably the only one which is a real different format internally.

Also you can edit the topic title by editing the first post.

edit: I typed my post with my phone, and it took me a lot of time since I hate to type on a touchscreen, so Breadbin ninja'd me, but it turns out we pretty much said the same things :)

Basically, the 8 stages from S&K are in a single compressed "file", so you have to extract all of them, edit the one you want, and recompress the "file". Unfortunately, the archive with all the layouts I included in the linked post no longer works because the host terminated my account, and I don't have access to my local copy right now (it's on my other computer); however, feel free to contact me via Private Messages if you have further questions about Blue Balls at a later time :)
