Whoops. Forgot to add a link to a video showcasing a new alarm system for Radon Ravine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH3h6oqtxHw&feature=youtu.be
Wow. I'm awe struck. I don't want to repeat what everyone else said, but I'm really excited for this hack. Especially seeing as I haven't seen a single S3K hack with any form of art change before (even though disassemblies cracked that open a while ago ). But why won't you post a download? Even a crummy beta demo with only the first one or two zones would have me hooked! Besides, just from experience, I've learned it's always best to get multiple opinions about level design, object placement, and general level flow. Even if you know what your doing XD.
I'm really liking the look of Bonbon Bonanza. Gives me nostalgia of old classics such as Zool and Robocod.
Thats where alot of the art comes from. The candy canes are from zool and the liquorice allsorts, clouds and other foreground stuff is from Robocod. Always wanted to make a level using art from those games cause I love it so much. Pleased with the final result . Act 2 is like a completely seperate zone.
This project is still going For new year. I thought I'd give you a look at the new art for Sunset Vista (Marble Garden) Act 1 takes place on top of a mountain range looking down onto a large Aqueduct. In time you will see why there is a portrait of Knuckles in the wall. A look at the new internal section art. Note the new pillars and the crushers have been made to match Act 2 takes us deeper into the old citadel where we see large candle lit ornaments adorning the wall. There is alot of candles here too. In time you will see why. Get higher up and a glitzy city can be seen in the background. We'll be going there in the next zone. And a look at the new Gumball stage art. Please enjoy and happy new year everyone />
Oh wow, this looks absolutely stunning! Amazing work! I very much look forward to seeing more of this hack
My favorite zone from the clip was Fury Fortress Zone. Reminds me of what Sky Sanctuary would look like if the Death Egg was actually rising up through it. Really liking the music too, it sets a really bleak "endgame" feel that matches the color scheme / overall tone of the zone. Nice work, keep it coming.
I love what I'm seeing but I really hope you'll consider rolling the HUD back to how it looked in the first batch of screenshots in this thread, or even the original S3K one. Just a minor nitpick though, really.
Update Time New Bengal Maze Act 1 Palette. Layout has also changed drastically from the video. A look at Act 2 This is where the maze part of this zone begins. Each section is like a trial of either puzzles or gauntlets of traps. A few nods back to the original Sandopolis will be here too. A very early WIP of Noon Festival. The music festival zone. In time you'll see why the mushrooms will be an integral part of this zone
Nice work! Love the palettes! But I prefer the old HUD you had in your first post, it looks very clean. The art is beautiful, actually very unique seeing the sparse number of S3&K hacks. Seeing you have these levels mostly complete, could you release a short alpha letting us try it out? Your story is funny and unique as well.
Well, some of the levels are really good: Fury Fortress is amazing, nice colors there. "Candy level" looks fun, I feel a "Sonic Colors" vibe from it. (I lol'd at the James Pond music.) The art could look more "Sonic-y", but it's not bad. Sunset Vista is *effing gorgeous*. I think it's probably the best looking hack I ever saw of this level. Radon Ravine is nice enough. It's basically a pallete hack, but a nice one - even if it's a bit *too* red. On the other hand... Bonbon Bonanza, on the first page, hurts my eyes a bit. The colors clash too much. Bengal Maze is a nice concept, but the tileset is too "busy/dirty". There's too much going on. Maybe you shoud clean up a little? Tone down the details in some places? Overall, good work. I will keep a eye on it for sure.
Holy crap, that oil pit/spike part. x.x I wonder, is the music a -literal- port of the original track or a recreation? Given how some of the default music sounds, I suppose it could be either/or.
Music Festival > Woodstock > Mushroom Drug :v: To get Sonic higher and higher the more he 'bounces' on Mushrooms
