Well, We, -Sonic 2HD Staff- are a small team with the necessary people working, and a community helping from behind. Thit is why we got a general coordinator too, a small team can do miracles if organized after all.

Are we allowed to use the material/ideas for our own Fan games if credit is given?

There are a few nice ideas that just can't go to waste. =P

Very sad. I always enjoyed reading the archives of the project before everything was minimalized by Chimpo.

I know this might be out of my league to ask, but has Rika Chou ever considered going back to Sonic 2: Advanced Edit? He stopped the hack way back to work on Project Retro.

I personally don't think it's right to stifle all attempts at a revival among interested people. I'm not saying I'd want to start something myself (I had and still have no involvement with this project) but still, if someone dedicated enough wants to start something among members of this forum, I don't see what's so bad about that. And as far as the "leech talent from somewhere else" bit - this is the only Sonic site on the internet whose members are remotely capable of crafting something like that and you damn well know it.

Seriously? I'm not surprised. I mean, there were pages upon pages of people arguing about a pixel on his head, for fuck's sake.

Kind of speaks a lot about gamer mentality today how graphics = gameplay.

    Top Secret. Bitch.
    KuroKomix LPs and Blog.
I was really looking forward to this. If I could do anything besides toss around ideas, I would have loved to help. Oh we. C'est la Vie, as they say.

But really, is it truly necessary to completely stamp out this project?

And for those people that were arguing about the single pixel things, I have one question: Did you ever try placing the object in various environments to see how much the single pixel stuck out?

Sunnuvabitch. I can't say I'm very happy, especially since I was hoping we could come together to make a spiritual Sonic 4. I had been working on boss concepts and stage layouts, myself - what will I do with them now? :(

Just how far does that ban go, anyway? Obviously, new topics are off-limits (as they should be). But are we talking bans on mentioning it in sigs as well? Y'know, a complete and total "you mention this game outside the 'project over' topic, your ass is banned" ban. Which would be overkill, honestly, but pretty effective in getting it out of memory.

I was hoping that the project be done someday. I wanted to play that game. But I guess it's time to bury the project.

You've more or less nailed it. Any attempts at reviving a project that we have officially killed off will not be endorsed by us in any matter—indirectly or otherwise. Of course, we probably won't ban you... unless you, like, spam PMs to people telling them to go to some new project forum or something like that.

    But yeah. No more.

    Working on my art!
After seeing what a mess the project became I'm kinda glad it's dead. Waste of space it seemed to be.

So not even in sigs? A bit contradictory, given that you said the project COULD flourish, but, well, are shutting down any way that it could.

But hell, do what you want. It's not like I was any help to this thing...

So, I couldn't even put a line of text that reads something like, "RIP Project Sonic Retro" in my sig?

Ignoring the question of why you'd want to, the only thing that is actually prohibited is the external advertisement of an unofficial revival of the project, and any redirection or means through which to access it through our website. An acknowledgment of the project's former existence is far from any kind of deplorable offense.

This is a dictatorship, not a democracy. If you don't like it, GTFO.

Don't mean to be harsh, but the moment that it became a "retro project" meant that it was sonic retro exclusive. I, for one, am glad it was canceled. =)

Don't put words in my mouth. I never said it was. I'm well aware of how things work here.

A proper burial for a tortured project that never got anywhere.

Kinda strange rule though. If someone were to rename the project, use the (few) assets that were made for it (with permission) and host it someplace else, and try to continue work on it, then what makes it so different than any other fan game that can freely advertise on here?
