I took the tech demos and put 'em in a TransGaming Cider wrapper. Let me know how it works.

Thanks! Now my best friend (who uses a MacBook Pro) can try it too. =D I'll inform him promptly.

Though unofficial, I'm really curious to see it's results.

We don't usually support new threads in this forum, but in this case I'll make an exception! ;)
If it's reported as "working", we can add it to the official TD thread, *as unoffical MAC release*.

    Keep us updated!

Which one do I click? Are all of them different?

  5. When I can, I am going to TOTALLY try this. It says no servers available right now, though!

Its working now (4x that is)

    4x not working on 10.5.5

    EDIT: NOT WORKING

I downloaded, but it said that it did not support the system. Is this only for Intel Mac 0SX? Will there be a PPC version? Please. I am so excited about this project, and I would like to play it in the end. Please answer if you can.

EDIT: I checked ALL OF THEM. None work. Please make a ppc version.

  7. All it does for me is the application's icon comes up, and then nothing else happens.

If anyone get this to work, please don't forget to provide us your MAC specs!

We are not developing any MAC OSX release at the moment, but... :psyduck:

I wish someone would at least tell me if a PPC version will be made.

    OH, US
No dice here either. It just sits in the dock doing nothing, then doesn't quit when I tell it to (have to force quit). Isn't Cider meant to be more of a development aid anyhow? As I understand it, I thought you still have to make some Mac-specific modifications.

  11. Cider is to port games to mac, I have a port of Outrun 2006. Anyway, I guess we're going to have to wait for a Mac-specific release. Sigh.\

EDIT: BTW Vincent, its just Mac, not MAC. Sorry, just a pet peeve =P

Cider is a modified version of Cedega (wine for for games). If you look the .app folder for any Cider powered game you'll find in /Resources/transgaming/Drive_c/Program Files/(Game name here) the windows version of the game. Cider is basically a wrapper for the games, and is customized to each specific game. With a little bit of hacking you can make virtually any game work with that cider wrapper.

I just acquired a new version of cider and am gonna try using that. Until I get it done I'm taking down the version I have up now.

The game was compiled for running on a Intel CPU. Unless PowerPC can emulate Intel, it won't be possible without me compiling the game for PowerPC (something I can't do without having the right tools, or even a PowerPC in the first place).

So the answer is no

So you are saying that even the final game will be unplayable for me. :( :(

Honestly, Apple moved off PPC 2 years ago - less and less software is going to use it now, and next to no new software is going to. As a Mac user, you should be expecting to have to buy new hardware to keep running Apple's stuff - this isn't the first time this has happened, no? Look up the 68k --> PPC transition.

tl;dr - There most likely will never be a PPC port.

Actually most Mac applications are written as Universal Binaries or still have separate PPC and x86 versions.

Maybe older versions. Not so much newer ones. Plus what HSDC said.

Well obviously not games. There's way too much in there to make different versions. They run a lot faster on the Intel processors anyways. Most regular apps of only a few megabytes are still made into Universal Binaries or separate binaries for each though. It's the older versions of Mac OS X that people aren't coding for anymore. With that said, I hope this Tech Demo can run on my computer when it works. It works slowly on Windows (although it is Vista which is lame). I was hoping it would run better on Mac when I heard about this. I have a sneaking suspicion that it won't though.
